As part of their GDC coverage,
Gamespy
posted a preview of
Homeworld 2, the space strategy game sequel currently in development at
Relic Software .According to the article, Homeworld 2 is currently pre-alpha and
is currently scheduled to be released in just a few months, with Relic
optimistically looking at late July as a possible release date. Here is an
excerpt:
By far, one of Homeworld's biggest strengths was its jaw-droppingly gorgeous 3D graphics. For Homeworld 2, the technology has been rebuilt from the ground, but the game's visuals still retain the same overall look and feel. The ships are amazingly detailed -- when zoomed all the way in, we could actually see the guns on the ship rotate and fire, and it will be easy to pan around simply by moving your mouse to the edge of the screen. Explosions are also given the red carpet treatment, especially for larger ships, which erupt in a ball of orange fire and debris.
