- Post a comment THQ and Kaos update on the status of Homefront multiplayer:
Nvidia announced that the
company has launched a new 3D Vision update with glasses offering an
extra 20 hours of battery life at a price point $50 less than the
previous kit. The kit which includes a pair of glasses and a
transmitter will be available for $149 compared to the previous $199
price point. Users who already have 3D Vision set up can pick up an
extra set of the updated glasses for $119 instead of $149.
Today we are happy to announce an updated version of our 3D Vision
wireless glasses kit for a new low price of $149 (US), $50 less than
the original price. Plus, the glasses provide 50 percent longer battery
life from a single charge, 60 hours compared with 40 hours before,
giving you even more time of uninterrupted 3D entertainment.
With over 1,000 products in the 3D Vision ecosystem, including notebook
and desktop PCs, displays, TVs, projectors, GPUs, video applications,
cameras and games, 3D Vision lets you experience the best quality 3D in
many different ways on your PC. In addition, we’re also lowering our
price of extra wireless glasses for only $119, so that it’s easier to
share the 3D experience with your friends.
It’s never been better to be a 3D Vision owner, with new 3D games
available such as Bulletstorm and Crysis 2. If you haven’t done it yet,
download the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo from GeForce.com and experience
one of the most anticipated games in 2011 with 3D Vision. And, pair 3D
Vision with the brand new GeForce GTX 550 Ti – also available today for
$149 – and you have the perfect gaming upgrades for your PC.
Beyond gaming, 3D Vision is also adding new dimensions to your videos
and photos. Visit 3DVisionLive.com where we’re hosting over 5,000 3D
photos and videos available to stream via your PC. You can even upload
your own 3D photos and share them with friends, or the world.
THQ and Kaos are committed to supporting Homefront post-launch, and we
are actively investigating all reported bugs and issues. We have
already dramatically increased server capacity to meet the
unprecedented demand, which is addressing many of the connection issues
we saw yesterday. Our data shows that that the vast majority of
Homefront players are enjoying multiplayer without issue, however we
are tracking and addressing a number of known issues on both PS3 and
360. This is what we’re doing right now:
PS3
We have a patch going live this evening at 17.00 PST / 20.00 EST /
24.00 GMT. This will include:
• Fixes for intermittent problems accepting friend invites and joining
friends’ games
• Several fixes for reported freezes
• Fixes related to joining matches, round transitions, and proper
behavior on the match recap screen
• Additional bug fixes, including inaccuracies in ping meter, and
player hosted servers not properly pulling score/time limit settings
For those of you experiencing difficulties with PS3, this update should
make a significant difference.
Xbox 360
We have seen far fewer issues reported on 360 to date, but we are
currently working on a title update that we trust will address most
outstanding issues. As soon as we have a timeframe for this we will let
you know.
We have seen reports of an extremely rare issue whereby Xbox 360 owners
can no longer connect to the game at all with their preferred profile.
This affects just a handful of the several hundreds of thousands of
Xbox 360 players we’re tracking, but if it’s affecting you, please
contact THQ support at http://support.thq.com with a full description
of the problem so we can identify you.
PC
Is looking pretty robust right now. We released a small hotfix today to
address a couple of minor issues, but you can expect a patch with full
change-list in the near future as we identify and fix issues on the
ever-fluid PC platform!
To report an issue on any format, we invite players to post in the
Homefront forums which will allow us to identify and track your issues
as fast as possible.
We want to stress that Homefront is one of a tiny handful of titles
offering dedicated server support on console, and the infrastructure
and networking code required to support this is much more complex and
demanding than simple peer-to-peer matchmaking you see in most other
FPS games. The pay-off is larger maps, more players, and an equal
playing field for all – something we believe is critical for fair,
balanced online FPS gameplay.
Every game that goes the extra mile to provide dedicated servers faces
additional teething problems in the first few days as the kinks are
ironed out, but please bear with us as we address these – the result
will be worth it. Once again, we apologise for any disruption to your
gaming, and thank you for your patience and support.
