(hx) 12:47 AM CEST - Jul,12 2006 - Post a comment / read (3)
Game physics software company Havok have officially announced the release of Havok 4.0, which adds two new products to their software solution - Havok Behavior and Havok FX. The new Havok Behavior allows physics based interactive character behavior for added gaming realism. Havok FX will take advantage of available graphics processing power from ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards for physics calculations and a more realistic gaming experience. The Havok 4.0 SDK is compatible with Sony’s upcoming Playstation 3 and Microsoft Windows operating systems for an easier multi-platform developing experience. The first games that will use Havok 4.0 will be released in the fall-winter timeframe.

As I said before, goodbye AGEIA..

Anyone remember playing 'Incoming' by RAGE on day of release about 8years ago? The graphics and explosions in that game were simply amazing and all on a lowly Voodoo based machine.

AGEIA is trying to do what software has done for years *without* any stupid addon card.

Carmageddon invented physics! Again looong before physics processors -other than a floating point CPU- were about.

Amazing how we've come full circle again...talk about reinventing the wheel!

I don't recall a game called Incoming, but I do recall Carmageddon. Was a fun and cool game.

What bothers me about this whole scene is that it's purely obvious Havok, ATI and nVidia are abusing their place in the market.. There should be some sort of standards organization to protect a company like AGEIA. Consumers should be open to choice. ATI and nVidia should think with consumer in mind and offer solutions for both Havok and AGEIA. Instead the've ganged up on AGEIA partnering with Havok.

You all know as well as me AGEIA's stay will be a short one and only fools would buy an AGEIA card.
