As the four most expensive video cards in this review, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580, the AMD Radeon HD 6970, the GeForce GTX 570, and the Radeon HD 6950 were all playable at 2560x1600 with MLAA and 16X AF, as well as the highest available in-game settings, represented by the "Ultra" setting. The Radeon HD 6870 was on the edge of being playable at 2560x1600, and even averaged about 40FPS at that resolution, but there were too many unpleasant dips below 30FPS. For some gamers it might have been tolerable, but we didn't find it to be so. We lowered the resolution to 1920x1200 and that problem went away. The GeForce GTX 560 Ti was not even approaching playability at 2560x1600, but was also just fine at 1920x1200.
