GTA opens virtual casino where gamers can spend REAL money - briefly
(hx) 10:07 PM CEST - Jul,24 2019 - Post a comment / read (2)
Rockstar just opened up the first casino in Grand Theft Auto Online, the Diamond, where players can pay real money to gamble in game. The casino has been empty for the first six years of GTA Online's existence. The resort has since opened, and it’s a pretty swish place. Unsurprisingly, you can play Roulette, Blackjack, and Three Card Poker in the GTA Online casino, going up against the house using the new Chips currency. There are also Slot Machines themed around various entertainment properties from the GTA world such as Twilight Knife and Impotent Rage, and the Inside Track where you can gamble on virtual horse racing. On top of all that, there's the Lucky Wheel you can spin to win prizes including Chips, cash, clothing, or even a high-end supercar if you get really lucky. By investing in a VIP membership to the GTA Online casino, you'll unlock all sorts of perks including valet parking for your vehicle, an aircraft concierge on the rooftop helipad, a limo service to take you anywhere free of charge, access to the VIP lounge, plus high limit tables to really up the stakes if you've got Chips to burn. To obtain VIP membership, you'll need to purchase a Master Penthouse suite at The Diamond, so let's hope you've got enough GTA$ in the bank.

Not all GTA Online players are able to enjoy gambling in Diamond Casino. According to a rather large reddit thread, the Lucky Wheel, card games, and other "gambling" content isn’t accessible due to their country’s gambling laws. Residents from Portugal, Argentina, Czech Republic, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and many others are unable to access the casino games. Some players are reporting limited availability, while others can’t play any of the mini-games. Gambling law vary by country, and even in some states. There are countries which outlaw gambling outright while some have banned land-based gambling (casino boats excluded). In some countries online gambling is banned, while others only allow horse racing, government lottery, and sports betting. Looking over the Rockstar Support page, it notes that certain features may not be available to players due to “regional restrictions,” and that seems to be the case for many countries on the reddit list.

Many players are suggesting using a VPN to access the content on PC, but according to the game’s license conditions, using a VPN could be a volition of the Terms of Service and EULA according to Line I. Many still use a VPN when playing the game, so if you decide to try it yourself, do so at your own risk. Some countries have also banned the use of VPN, so we don’t recommend it.

It's not really real money. They don't take shark card money. Plus, you can't get it back out anyway, so it's just in-game money nevertheless, how you spend it inside the game doesn't matter.

You can still just buy in-game money that you can buy vehicles and businesses with. And now you can also use that to gamble. But you can never get any real-world value out of it.
