Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson told Kinda Funny there is no generative AI in Grand Theft Auto VI, and no real-money buys in the single-player game.
The New York Times visit put the animation count at well over 600,000, against 55,000 in GTA 5 and 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2.
A dedicated Los Angeles team of writers, directors, and producers art-directed NPCs one by one instead of generating crowds.
Aaron Garbut said every room was thought through: who sits where, what they drink, whose photos hang on the wall.
The map is set in Leonida, with Vice City about twice Los Santos and the whole state about three times Red Dead 2.
Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick had already drawn the same line: generative AI plays no part in building those worlds.
The story mode is dated November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC date.
Rockstar still will not talk about the next GTA Online. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier says that is deliberate.
Current GTA Online is expected to keep running after launch, which is why some analysts float a separate online drop in 2027.
That 2027–2028 window is a guess, not a Rockstar date.
So the thing that ships in November is the handmade story. The shark-card machine comes later, if it comes at all on that timetable.
