The GT3 Racing Pack will be available today for a SRP of $329, or on its own for $49.99. "We are thrilled to bring the Gran Turismo franchise to the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system," said Ami Blaire, Director, Product Marketing, SCEA. "Gran Turismo 3 A-spec truly revolutionizes the racing category, bringing a new dimension in physics, graphics and special effects that blur the line between game and reality. It will appeal to a much broader audience and will drive the formation of the PlayStation 2 platform."
"GT3 features 20 tracks in total, four of which are rally circuits, and the majority of them playable in reverse essentially upping the track number. Most of the tracks are tweaked versions of circuits that featured in the previous installments of GT, but there are a few brand new tracks, such as the famous Monaco circuit, Complex String, Swiss Alps and the excellent Route 246, which is based on a real highway in downtown Tokyo. Some people might feel that there are some classic GT tracks that should have been included in the circuit lineup, such as Red Rock Mountain, High Speed Ring, the short versions of the Seattle and Rome, and not forgetting the point-to-point race of Pikes Peak. To be honest I was more than happy with the lineup, and was especially pleased to see the return of Special Stage Route 11 from GT1. Though it has to be said the races that take place on the Test Course Oval are still some of the most tedious races I've ever driven in a game. I would much prefer to tackle one of the endurance races on a more interesting track than race 10 laps on that damn oval course. " [more] |
