You can see Samantha 'Sam' Everett, one of the game's main characters. She's investigating the rooms of the Dread Hill Houses. In the lab down in the basement she learns more about the work of Dr. David Styles, the manor's owner and Sam's employer-to-be. Up on the Dread Hill House tower, Sam finds some more indices, helping her on her researches during the game. Out of curiosity, Sam doesn't even stop investigating when she reaches Styles' private bathroom. However, the player can marvel at some graphic details such as the double reflections on the shower cabin and the mirror here. The exterior view of the old mansion shows some dark bad weather atmosphere. Hailing from America, she has been travelling through most of Europe the last couple years. Her first task: Finding six test subjects at Oxford University for one of Styles' experiments. The experiment starts off innocently enough, but then inexplicable incidents start mounting. And Styles is visited by his dear departed wife. Now it's up to Sam to solve the mysteries of Dread Hill House.In Gray Matter, players control both Dr. David Styles as well as Samantha Everett in their bid to uncover the secrets and find out the truth. Gray Matter tackles questions concerning the nature of reality and the power of the human mind in constructing the world we take for granted.
