Gamespy has conducted an interview with PC adventure game maker Daniel Nilsson to find how what it took to make his most recent game Gilbert Goodmate.
GameSpy: What made you decide to use 2D in Gilbert Goodmate, and do you think this will affect the sales in any way?
Daniel Nilsson: At the beginning it was just a hobby and when we started over again on the PC there were no such things as 3D adventure games out on the market, so 2D was our only choice. I mean, who would have thought of playing a point and click game in 3D J. Well it happened, and when we realized that, it was too late to start all over again. Using 2D graphics in the game just makes the crowd even smaller for us. I mean the "point and click" genre isn't that big and if you make it a 2D point and click the market is even smaller.
GameSpy: In what countries is Gilbert Goodmate being published?
Daniel Nilsson: So far contracts have been signed with Poland, Russia, and the UK -- but there are actually more countries than that. Yes we have more contracts signed with publishers in other countries as well, but due to the fact that they don't want to announce it yet I'm not allowed to say anything. At the moment Clearwater are also negotiating with several other publishers about the distribution rights in their countries.
