Gabe Newell: Portal 2 is Finished - interview

Valve's Managing Director Gabe Newell has announced that Portal 2 is "finished", confirming that the oft-delayed first-person puzzler will finally go on sale this April. 'We just finished Portal 2,' said Newell speaking in a video conference call with a marketing class at Tippecanoe Valley High School.

Portal 2 goes on sale in the UK on April 22nd on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Will you be picking it up?

Chances are that I will be getting it, yeah. The only reason not to, is if it would have lost Valve's known code smoothness or having been immensely consolized. From the videos I've seen so far, it looks absolutely solid. Let's hope it stays that way. Maybe if it sells well, Valve will get off their fat ass and start making Episode 3 or HL3, whatever.

Hm, personally i dont see any point of making HL 3. Ep 3 ok, but a new game... no need really, just for the sake of ... well, a new game. The story wont be any interesting, the gameplay either, not to mention the visuals.

Gabe says Portal 2 is done 6 mins in by the way, not exactly making people wait...

I'd like a HL:EP3 and a HL3, that's what they said they were going to do when they release EP1. Although, they also said the episodes would come out in quick succession, be small, saving the 'full' game experience for HL3.

We'll be lucky if they even do an EP3 at this point. They must have run out of ideas for Gordon.

I didn't watch the video but did the video run for a long time because he was stuffing his face with footlong subs and let me guess, did he pull a kentucky fried chicken barrel from under the table?

I think he needed 2 mins after every sentence to catch his breath. This video is edited not to show that. :P
