The player starts the game as a gunner in a helicopter delivering a Special Forces team into Downtown Manhattan. During the insertion, the player's chopper is shot down and the Special Forces team is destroyed in an ambush. The player is the only combat capable survivor of the team, and the fate of the entire mission rests on his hands.

During the course of the game the player will engage in combat with the Alien Invaders in order to accomplish his mission. In order to accomplish his objectives, the player will have to investigate multiple areas in Downtown Manhattan. Because of the Invader War Machines occupying the city, he will have to navigate via the subway tunnels.

The player will be armed with a wide range of contemporary military weapons, and he will have the opportunity to upgrade these weapons during the course of the game.

Furthermore, the game will encourage exploration of the huge areas through the strategic placement of power-ups, clues and secrets in the various areas.
