- Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 Movies -
The Ghost Recon Website offers four in-game videos from Ghost Recon
Advanced Warfighter 2, the upcoming tactical shooter sequel.
- Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines unofficial patch v3.3 -
As always, this is an unsupported, third-party patch, and this release
applies another eight gameplay tweaks and bug fixes as detailed in the
meticulously formatted change notes.
- Armed Assault demo patch/server v1.03 build 5116 - Bohemia
Interactive has issued
another updated dedicated server for the playable demo of Armed Assault,
the sample of their contemporary tactical first-person shooter.
- Neverwinter Nights 2 Beta Patch - The Neverwinter Nights Forums
now offer
a new beta version 1.04 English patch for Obsidian's RPG sequel.
- Overload 2004 Released (UT2k3 mod) - Free Monkey
Interactive have released
Overload 2004, an updated version of their Unreal Tournament 2003 mod
that was featured in PC Gamer.
- Obsidian Conflict Version 1.23 (HL2 mod) -The
Half-Life 2 Co-Op modification Obsidian Conflict has released a large
bugfix patch (Version 1.23) to quell some of the bigger problems OC fans
have been battling.
- Genesis Rising Beta Opens - DreamCatcher Interactive sends
along the first movie trailer for
Genesis Rising: the Universal Crusade, revealing more of the sci-fi
space-combat RTS with RPG elements being beta tested at Metamorf Studios.
The movie offers a narrated high-resolution look at the game, culminating
with a note saying the game's release date is now set as March, 2007.
Besides
the multiplayer beta test on FilePlanet is no longer restricted to paid
subscribers.
- War Rock Preorders -
When gamers
pre-order War Rock at one of the participating retailers, in addition to
securing a copy of the game the day it launches in stores, they will be
provided with a special code that can be applied to existing War Rock beta
accounts. The code will give players an exclusive 8th Slot Weapon (these
exclusive weapons vary by retailer and include a Gatling gun, M60 and more).

This is for everyone, not just the paid subscribers. Sigil Games and
Sony Online have announced that the game will ship to stores on January 30.
In addition to the regular version for $49.99 a special edition of the game
with lots of extras is being sold for a whopping $89.99.
- World Of Warcraft Reaches 8 Million Subscribers - Blizzard
announced that
World
of Warcraft is now played by more than 8 million gamers around the
world. Wow!
- PS3 And Wii Versions Of The Godfather Game Coming - Electronic
Arts has announced that it will release versions of their movie based open
world action game The Godfather for the PS3 and Wii consoles. The PS3
version is called The Godfather The Don's Edition while the Wii version is
titled The Godfather Blackhand Edition. Both versions are due for release
this March.
- Free Call of Duty 3 Map on Xbox Live! - Activision has released a
free new multiplayer map for
Call of Duty 3 on
Xbox Live! The free multiplayer map for the Treyarch-Activision game is
titled Champs. The map is available only for Xbox Live Gold subscribers
until Jan. 18 when it becomes available for everyone else on Xbox Live
- Castlevania To Break Xbox Live Arcade Size Limit - Apparently,
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is going to exceed the 50MB XBLA size
limit. Apparently MS can make exceptions on the size limit, and they review
it on a case-by-case basis.
- PS2 Madden hoists 2006 sales trophy -
The PS2
version of Electronic Arts' pro sports game Madden 07 was the number one
best selling console game in the US for 2006, coming in at a whopping 2.8
million copies. While a distant second, the Nintendo DS platformer New Super
Mario Bros came in with solid sales at number two with 2 million copies,
followed by Epic and Microsoft's Xbox 360 action game Gears of War at number
3 for the year with 1.8 million copies.
- MTV To Purchase 1Up.com? -
Biz.GameDaily is reporting through unnamed sources that Viacom's MTV
group is currently in talks with Ziff-Davis to acquire their 1Up.com online
game network (the group of gaming sites includes the news site 1Up.com, the
video site GameVideos.com, the file site FileFront.com and the RSS feed site
GameTab.com).
