- The Call of Duty MMO Rumour - According
to Destructoid, Infinity
Ward's new game is an MMO, and IW is currently hiring from SOE,
possibly even the lead designer of EverQuest II. Of course, all of this
is merely speculation at this point.
- Is Blizzard Working On A MMOFPS? - NoFrag
offers a rumor (in the site's
native French) on Blizzard's upcoming mystery MMOG, as 2010 continues
its pace for a record number of game-related rumors. According to the
French site the game is set in a futuristic environment and will
feature two components, a social part (like The Sims Online) and a
combat one. If this is Blizzard's unannounced MMO that we've been
waiting to hear more about, then perhaps they'll spill the beans soon
if information is starting to leak out.
- World of Warcraft Offering Care Packs Instead of
Account Restorations - Account admins are being told not to restore people's characters and items
after their accounts are hit by gold sellers and keyloggers. Instead,
they are to offer subscribers a "care package". If the player
does not accept this care package, they are then forced to go into a
character restoration queue that is consistently several days to weeks
long. According to sources familiar with the situation, this "care
package policy" has been implemented in order to lighten the work load
of those Blizzard employees who perform account restorations. Similar
policies have existed at other times account compromises have been
high, such as during the transition from Vanilla WoW to The Burning
Crusade.
