- Rift: Planes of Telara Death Rift Trailer - Here's a trailer and some screenshots from Trion's upcoming
fantasy MMO, Rift: Planes of Telara, showing an
area called the Plane of Death.
- Hitman 5 Rumors Resurface - Danish
developer IO Interactive is hard at work on the next game in the
popular Hitman series, Eurogamer has learned. The PC,
PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title will be released "at the very earliest
Christmas next year", one source told us. The claim was backed up by
retail sources, who have indicated to Eurogamer that a release later in
2011 "will be most likely".
- Doctor Who PC games released for US residents - US
fans will soon be able to legally download the first two chapters for
Doctor Who: The Adventure Games. Direct2Drive announced that
they will be the exclusive outlet in North America to purchase and
download the game based on the long running sci-fi TV series. The two
episodes, City of the Daleks and Blood of the Cybermen, will be made
available to purchase and download beginning on Thursday for a bundle price of $3.70.
- Mount & Blade: Warband v1.127 Patch - Developer
TaleWorlds has released the
latest patch for their RPG expansion pack Mount and Blade
Warband. The patch updates the game from to v1.127 and has a number of
new game features. One of them is the addition of a Duel multiplayer
mode where players can fight in 1v1 battles.
- Arma II: Operation Arrowhead Addon Sends In
British Troops - Bohemia Interactive is releasing an addon
for Arma II: Operation Arrowhead on August 26th. Arma 2: British Armed
Forces will be available for GBP 7.99/EUR 8.99/USD 9.99 and will
include new vehicles and weapons, Modern British troops in
multi-terrain, desert and woodland camouflage, Personal
weapons: L85A2 and L86A2 rifles, L110A1 machine gun, LRR and AW50
sniper rifles, N-LAW AT launcher, New vehicles: Jackal 2 MWMIK
all-terrain vehicle, modernized FV510 Warrior, New
helicopters: AH11 Wildcat (multi-role), HC3 Merlin
(transport), British versions: off-road car, Chinook HC2
transport helicopter, Apache AH1 gunship, New single player
campaign, Multiplayer modes - Cooperative scenarios featuring
the British units, vehicles and equipment and more.
- Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters Announced - Warner
Bros. Interactive Entertainment just announced a new game coming to
Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS. Titled Green Lantern: Rise of the
Manhunters, it's a movie tie in, action game.
- Alan Wake: The Signal DLC Next Week - The
first bit of DLC will be hitting Alan Wake next week on July 27th.
Named "The Signal" it'll be free for those who purchased Alan Wake new
(and have kept it). Others will have to pay 560 MSP ($7).
- Dead Rising 2: Case Zero on August 31st for 400
MSP - The Dead Rising -> Dead Rising 2 connector game
thing, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, now has an official release date and
price. Coming directly from Capcom's Unity blog, it'll be
released on August 31st for the strangely low price of 400 MSP ($5).
Exclusive to the Xbox 360, it'll tell the story of Chuck Green and his
daughter while in a town named Still Creek and takes place three years
prior to the events of Dead Rising 2 and two years after the events of
the first.
- StarCraft II Budget Correction - The Wall Street Journal corrects their
recent report that the development budget for StarCraft II
has exceeded $100 million USD. They say they were referring to the
wrong game: "Activision Blizzard Inc. hasn't disclosed development
costs for its 'Starcraft II' videogame. A July 16 Technology article
about the 'Starcraft' sequel incorrectly said the company spent more
than $100 million to develop the game; that figure referred to its
'World of Warcraft' game."
- Supreme Commander 2 Online Prize Tournament This
Saturday - This Saturday there will be a Supreme Commander 2 - Crossfire Tournament
hosted by iGames and CEVO. It's free to join and available to residents
of the US and Canada (excluding Quebec /snicker). It's going to go down
1v1, single elimination, it's all online, must be age 13 and over.
Participants will have the chance to win an Alienware Area-51 desktop
with ATI CrossFireX.
- Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days Demo -
IO Interactive announces that next week they will follow the PS3 demo
for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days with playable demos of the
third-person shooter sequel for both Windows and Xbox 360. These new
demos are expected on July 26. The release of the full game is expected
on August 17 in North America, August 20 throughout Europe and other
PAL territories, and August 26 in Japan.
- Front Mission Evolved Delayed - Square
Enix has pushed back the release date of Front Mission Evolved by 2
weeks in North America, from 9/14/2010 to 9/28/2010, for PS3, Xbox 360
and PC
- Xbox 360 Lifetime Sales Reach 42 Million! - Microsoft
just officially announced that their current generation home console,
the Xbox 360, has now sold 41.7 million units. Microsoft and Devices
Division also reported a huge year-on-year improvement, which a profit
of $679 million this year as opposed to that of $108 last year.
- EA's COO Mesmerized By 3DS, Predicts Pancake-like
Sales - In an interview over at Industry
Gamers, EA's Chief Operating Officer John Schappert gushes affection
for Nintendo's upcoming 3D handheld:
