- Disciples 3: Resurrection announced - The
storyline sees the Undead Hordes coming back to the land of Nevendaar
and of course you have to stop them. The
game's press release claims that it will have a whopping 70
hours of gameplay along with two storyline characters, four leaders of
the Undead Hordes, two bosses and over 50 new units. No release date
for the game was announced.
- Scarlet Legacy Announced - Scarlet
Legacy
is a newly announced upcoming fantasy-themed free-to-play MMORPG from
GamesCampus. The game is currently accepting applications for its
closed beta test, which will pave the way for its launch this summer
- Age of Empires Online Booster Pack Video
- In the Defense of Crete Booster Pack
previewed on the vlog, King Minos needs your help to defend his island
from invaders, and he is paying well. Players will challenge waves of
relentless invaders to protect the sacred Minoan Wonders from being
destroyed. And for more fun, they can invite a friend to team up with
them and trounce the intruders. Plus, they'll earn new gear and awesome
rewards for defending Crete!
- Oddworld: Hand of Odd Revival - Just Add Water is working on a revival
of Oddworld: Hand of Odd, a spin-off of the Oddworld series which was
cancelled back in 1998. The game is a real-time strategy take on the
oddness of Oddworld. Platforms are undecided, but JAW is "looking at"
iPad, Android tablets, Facebook, PC and Mac.
- World of Warcraft 4.2 Previews - Blizzard
now offers a bunch of new previews of the upcoming version 4.2
update for World of Warcraft, their MMORPG.
- The Hunter Gets Major Expansion - The
free-to-play (microtransaction) hunting game, titled The
Hunter, has received a major game expansion. The expansion,
which is free to members, adds a completely new massive hunting
environment.
- FINAL FANTASY XI Ultimate Collection Abyssea
Edition Announced -
Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition will include all four expansion
packs for FINAL FANTASY XI, from the premiere expansion, Rise of the
Zilart, to the recently concluded Wings of the Goddess. It will also
contain all add–on scenarios to date; namely, A Crystalline
Prophecy
Ode of Life Bestowing, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat Evil in Small
Doses, and A
Shantotto Ascension The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born. Also
included
are the add–on battle areas introduced in 2010: Vision of Abyssea,
Scars of Abyssea and Heroes of Abyssea.
- Marvel Universe MMO to be free-to-play game - The
game, currently in development at Gazillion's Secret Identity studio, will be a free-to-play game when it launches.
This shows more evidence that this business model is becoming more and
more mainstream compared to the older monthly subscription model. It
was also announced that Brian Michael Bendis, one of the most prolific
writers for Marvel Comics, will be the head writer for the Marvel
Universe MMO game. Bendis's credits include writing a number of
Marvel's big crossover event mini-series including House of M, Secret
Invasion and Siege.
- ArcaniA: Gothic 4 Patch #4 - JoWooD
Entertainment has issued a new patch for ArcaniA: Gothic 4,
the RPG sequel developed by Spellbound Entertainment.
- Battlefield Academy Patch 1.5.3 - A new patch is available for
Battlefield Academy, updating the turn-based strategy game to version
1.5.3
- Civilization V Patched - A
new patch is now available through Steam to automatically
update Sid Meier's Civilization V. The patch notes outline an
extraordinary number of changes, balance tweaks, and bug fixes. There's
lots of changes and improvements to many of the game's AI features in
this new patch along with lots of gameplay changes as well (for
example, the game's Stealth Bombers can now get promotions).
- SHIFT 2 Unleashed Patch v1.01 - A
new patch for SHIFT 2 Unleashed is online, which brings the
latest installment in the Need for Speed series of racing games to
version 1.01
- The Sims Medieval Patch v1.3.13 -
New patches for The Sims Medieval (changelist) are available to
update the recently released installment in the strategy/simulation
series to version 1.3.13
- Brink Dedicated Server FAQ - The Brink Standalone Dedicated Server
will be available for download via Steam prior to release. Once the
server is available, you can simply browse to the Tools tab in your
Steam client and grab it from there
- Mass Effect Comics Now Available Through Dark
Horse Site - Dark Horse Comics, publishers of the Mass
Effect comic series, have a new digital site where you can snag comics
without having to leave the house.
- Kmart to Offer Portal 2 for $35 This Sunday - It
was just noted today that Kmart will be offering Portal 2 for both the
Xbox 360 and PS3 for just $35 on Sunday, April 30th. Furthermore, it
was also noticed that GameStop will be offering the PC version of the
game for just $30 while the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will run $39.99.
- Sony says Trophies, friends lists are safe -
The PlayStation Network is still down, but Sony is reassuring fans in
the off-time with answers to some pressing questions. First, any Trophies you earned in
single-player games while PSN was offline will be synced once
the service goes live again, so you can keep plugging away confident
that your progress will show. Your friends lists and download history
will remain in tact as well, and PlayStation Plus cloud saves will be
retrievable once Sony puts the servers back up. The Q&A also
reveals that Sony is working on some form of goodwill gesture to fans,
saying it is "currently evaluating ways to show appreciation for your
extraordinary patienc
- Mario is a total dick with the Portal gun - This would be an awesome mod,
except we'd need to see the entire level for this to work at all.
Still, fun to think what it would be like to use the Portal gun in old
school games like Super Mario Bros.
- Free version of CryEngine 3 now used by over 250
universities - The engine is being used by schools
for game development courses but it's also being applied to teach
students about "phhysics, computer science, architecture, film-making,
art and design use" and more. As we recently reported, Crytek plans to
offer up a free version of CryEngine 3 for anyone to use to make free
stand alone games sometime later this summer.
