(hx) 12:00 PM CEST - Aug,24 2007 - Post a comment / read (7)
Borderlands (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
The Witcher (PC)
Far Cry 2 (PC)
Stranglehold (PC/PS3/Xbox 360)
  • 2K Ups BioShock Install Limit, Plans WS Patch - 2K Games has replaced BioShock's initial limit of two simultaneous PC installations with what community manager Elizabeth Tobey calls a "5 by 5 plan." Under the new terms, users will be able to install the game on up to five computers, with the ability to reinstall the game on each computer up to five times. 2K will release a "revoke app" that should address issues resulting from the original limitations. They also will be releasing a patch to let users adjust the screen ratio, even though they originally claimed the widescreen resolution was by design. Good to hear a company responding in a timely fashion to user's concerns.
  • Jack Keane (PC)
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (Xbox 360)
    Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC)
    Fracture(PS3/Xbox 360)
C&C3: Tiberium Wars patch v1.07 - The new patch (v1.07) for C&C3 is now available via your auto-updater or here. The Mod SDK is also available for downloading. On that page you'll also find the new Worldbuilder version, sample art assets, in-game ui textures, and ui shell textures. Great news for C&C3 modders!
  • Crysis in DX10 Mode Quickie - Hexus published some quickie impressions after seeing Crysis in DX10 mode at GC.
  • Nations at War v5.0 for BF2 Released  - Nations at War is a Battlefield 2 Single Player / Co-op & Multiplayer Game MOD.
  • Guild Wars Sneak Peek Downloads  - The Guild Wars website now offers downloads of a manual and a maps to prepare for the upcoming Guild Wars: Eye of the North sneak peek weekend.
  • Stranglehold Release Delayed A Week - FiringSquad reports that the PC and 360 editions of Stranglehold are delayed by a week, and will be release on September 5 instead of August 27 as planned.  According to an IGN blog comment from the developers of Stranglehold the PC and PS3 Demos are coming soon
  • Hellgate London Subscription Rates - For all players, Hellgate London comes completely free-to-play out of the box and will offer a secure online experience with features including the ability to play cooperatively with thousands of other players, trade items, join guilds and enjoy a host of gameplay and community features including voice chat and buddy lists. For players with Subscription accounts (9.99 euros per month), Flagship Studios will deliver exciting new ongoing content including new character classes, areas, monsters, items and raid content and  new game modes.
  • ETQW Beta Reset - As announced a few days ago in the development blog, the accounts database for the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Public Beta has been reset and all accounts have been deleted. You can continue playing the Public Beta - all you have to do is recreate your Public Beta account
  • Spellbound to Develop Gothic 4: Genesis - JoWooD announced that Spellbound Entertainment is the developer working on Gothic 4, the upcoming RPG sequel

Jeezes Christ, you aren't even allowed to reinstall as you like these days. I really believe any human being who ain't braindead will properly wait for a nice cracked version, while the 'stupid' buyers are constantly being nagged and betrayed.

your an idiot - if all the 'stupid' people stopped buying games no one would ever make them anymore because they couldn't make a living out of it. So before you yap that trap think about it a little more.

It's thanks to 'complete-waste-of-DNA teenagers' that we have such strict anti-piracy measures.
At least 2K have 'obliged' us, the honest buyers 8)
Any company that does this:

And finally, I want to personally congratulate Racer_S from the Widescreen Gaming Forums, and his awesome user patch to expand the widescreen FOV in BioShock. I'm currently tracking him down via email, but hopefully, he'll accept my gratitude, and maybe an Nvidia 8800 to boot.

ROCKS!! :headbang:

I'm not an idiot. The Starforce-debacle showed what I mean. If you force people to make their system unstable, you won't get a best-selling title. People have become aware, and gladly bypassed the Starforced crap and left it on the shelves. Those people are NO idiots.

BioShock's Ken Levine:

quote:

Given the internets and what they are -- with their tubes and all -- I want to sort of talk about the concerns people have. We take the concerns people have very seriously. There's been some concern like, "What happens if it's three years from now, or ten years from now, when I want to play this game. And, you know, Irrational Games has been hit by a meteor?" We will unset the online activation at some point in the future -- we're not talking about when. If people have concern about that they shouldn't be worried about that. This activation is for the early period of the game when it's really hot and there are people really trying to find ways to play the game without buying it. Of course, there are a lot of people who are legitimately trying to play it. We're not trying to be Draconian, we're trying to find a balance.

I'm not buying this game till the cut out all the god damn shit, and if it takes them too long to get their act together I just won't buy it. There are still a ton of games that I want to play but haven't had a chance to.

Piracy notice:

What do we see each new year, big publishers cry how they loose 1-5 billion dollars to piracy(EA, THQ, Ubisoft, NCSoft, Vivendi, EVERYONE).

Okay so every year, those big publishers loose more andm ore money to piracy. And the same time they declare bigger revenues at the end of the fiscal year.

I personally haven't yet seen a publisher/game develoepr to go bust IF he has good NEW games, when i say good NEW games i mean games that are good for the mainstream consumers(there are a ton of Homeworld fans, game is great, but the mainstream consumer thinks its crap) and in NEW i mean recently released.

So:

bigger loses = bigger revenues

How does it happen?
