This NCSoft press release reports that the FBI has staged raids across the country on a Lineage II pirate program. According to the press release a web site named L2Extreme had signed on 50,000 active users and that the site was "providing its users with unauthorized service and code for" Lineage II.
FBI Agents working in conjunction with officials from NCsoft's North American business successfully closed down a computer game operation alleged to be reaping profits by providing a fraudulent service to its players. The operation was closed down after multiple raids and interviews were conducted in various cities from California to Virginia.

Federal search warrants were served on owners of L2Extreme who were also questioned during the raid. L2Extreme was providing its users with unauthorized service and code for NCsoft's online computer game, Lineage II. The warrants enabled officials to halt L2Extreme's operations while collecting further evidence in the course of the investigation.

The FBI estimates L2Extreme has up to 50,000 active users on its service. NCsoft estimates that monetary losses and damages from the operation are costing NCsoft millions of dollars per year. L2Extreme advertised on its website, www.l2extreme.com, that more than half million registered users had subscribed to play.

Cuz NCsoft are gay, L2 Extreme uses a EMULATOR which does NOT contain ANY code from the ncsoft server software.

All depends on exactly what that EMULATOR does. I'd imagine NOT a lawful thing and that's why it's closed down. Give em the chair!

They can't take down the server if they don't charge money for their server(donations is not p2p), also when the L2 official software was leaked NCsoft didn't do a thing, the EULA stated anyone using their software can be arresed, thats why the emu guys just used the official soft to capture the needed packets and write their own server software  leaving NCsoft with nothing to catch on to  This is going to end like ThePirateBay.org, raid the servers and now the swedish government is paying tpb.org for the damages

l2 extreme does NOT use the emulator aka l2j. they use official c1(modified for C4 etc and so on) server files that were stolen/leaked before.

l2extreme even claims they dont use l2j, that they use official server files on their forums

they don't charge money for it but they are making a lot of money off of donation's its basically the same thing.

plus all the people that are playing on l2extreme might have been playing on real server if there was no l2x etc. that's the argument ncsoft is gonna use.

lol awww i feel sorry for the donators who just donated for their items LOL
