- D&D Online Adds Solo Play -
The Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach website has word on the addition
of solo play to Turbine's D&D MMORPG: "An all new solo setting is being
introduced to help new DDO players navigate through the early game content,
allowing them the time and space to learn about their characters, try
strategies and face monsters for the first time on their own. Players will now
have the option to play at their own pace as a solo-player in the Harbor."
- Mass Effect Gameplay Movie - Gametrailers has
a new Mass Effect gameplay video.
- QuakeCon 2006 Update -
The event's official
website has issued an update on what's going on with the event: "There
have obviously been a number of rumors circulating recently, but this is to
let everyone know that QuakeCon 2006 has NOT been cancelled. We've had a
number of issues securing a venue and dates that suit the needs of the event,
the attendees, and the staff. This has taken many turns and longer than
expected, but we are working very hard to get everything wrapped up and
announced very soon."
- Victoria: Revolutions Announced - Paradox Interactive sent us
a press release announcing plans to release an expansion pack to their
strategy game Victoria - An Empire Under the Sun. The expansion, titled
Victoria - Revolutions, will be released this August exclusively on Paradox's
online store Gamersgate.com.
- The Ship Steams in July - Valve sent out a press release announcing
that The Ship, a massively mysterious thriller from Outerlight Ltd, is
scheduled to arrive in July via Steam, Valve's electronic distribution
platform. The Ship, Outerlight's first commercial product, was created
with Source, the same game engine technology Valve developed for Half-Life 2.
Set onboard a 1920's luxury liner, Mr X, the Ship's owner has "invited" you to
a mysterious game of hunt and hunted, as players must secretly track and
extinguish specified passengers while avoiding similar fate.

CNN Money has a story with confirmation of the cancellation of this
planned simulation of the life of a drug kingpin.
- Sony Online Raises Station Access Monthly Price - Sony's Station
Access web site has posted up word that
beginning
on June 1 the monthly price for the MMORPG service has gone up from $21.99 to
$24.99 per month. In a statement, Sony Online said the price increase was
due to both adding games that are supported by Station Access along with
increases in overall operating costs.
- Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Xbox 360 Patch - As promised, the Xbox
360 patch for Bethesda Softworks's fantasy RPG Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is
also available for download via Xbox Live.
- Perfect Dark Zero Multiplayer Map Pack (Xbox 360) - Microsoft has
released a new multiplayer map pack for their Xbox 360 first person shooter
launch title Perfect Dark Zero. The pack contains four new maps and can be
downloaded via Xbox live for the cost of 500 Microsoft Points (~ $6.25).

The pack will
feature 12 new maps as well as 2 new game modes and new weapons. They even
have some screens from the add-on.
- Ninety-Nine Nights Gets August US Release Date - Microsoft sent out
an official press release dating Ninety-Nine Nights for the XBox 360 for
August 2006 in the US
- Nintendo Says Wii Launch Won't Make Them Lose Much Money -
Nintendo execs expect not to lose much money from the launch of their
upcoming Wii console, which is unusual for the launch of an all new game
console. In other news,
Iwata revealed that games for Nintendo's "virtual console" that will allow
Wii owners to play old titles on their consoles will be priced at Y500 and
Y1,000, roughly US$4.50 to US$8.99. For reference, classic retro games for the
Nintendo GameBoy sold for upwards of US$35 for some titles, US$19.99 for
others
- Halo 3 Documentary Available Now - Bungie's website now offers
the Making of the E3 Trailer Mini-Documentary that Frankie had promised to
Halo fans last week.
