Nah no one is as arrogant as Micro$haft, you pay a fortune to BETA test M$ products, ie Windoze, from the word go -besides they are a TRUE monopoly!
Sony is far from being one; it's not like they produce the only TVs,games consoles in the world is it? and you have a choice to buy the PS3 or not.
The XBox360 is retailing £380 with HDD in the UK (when it was released it was £500-600 at Xmas!!!), the PS3 would retail around £340 with HDD.
There is the small matter of blu-ray
plus their devs are the best in the world -second to the UK of course :) and that's a fact!
What i like about the PS# is that it developes titles that very rarely see the light of day on PC -unlike of course the XBox which always gets ported to the PC *if* it's a seller somehwere down the line.
Horses for courses

Come off it.
Sony has been a very figurative force in consoles since they won everyone over with the PS1. Any competition was swollowed in a ton of hype and bad talk by Sony.
My paranoia suggest Sony wasn't too far behind the negative comments by developers regarding the Wii controller. What real developer doesn't like the opportunity to bring more to the games they create and yet we saw many follow a line of "...its never going to work...Powerglove <snicker>"
Too much? There was no reason for the Gamecube to have received all the bad press it did in the last console generation. Sure PS2 had an excellent software lineup and MS had loads of cash. But all the criticisms leveled at Nintendo could have been said about Sony too, funnily enough though they never were.
No, I'm sorry. I see Sony stopped being the great innovator when they released the PS2, they fell into their own hype trap and actually believe the rubbish they fed to all their customers. Thats why the PS3 is such a sloppy product, they truely believed they could do what they wanted and tack on a flashy ad compaign and people will buy into it. Hell that might still work, consumers are pretty dumb and very forgetful.
BTW - Sony devs are the best in the world? LOL. Please list the number of Sony in house games that are considered best in the world? I think you're mistaking the third party developers that until now were exclusive to Sony. Worryingly with GTA4 now dual platform and MGS4 developer wishing he could do something on Wii Sony may not even have this card for much longer.

Pay to beta test for MS? huh? I've never paid a penny to beta test. I beta tested Windows 3.11, Windows 95, 98 as well as Windows XP and MS Office 2000.. Honestly, I don't know where you got that from..I actually skipped on the Vista cuz I only had a 32bit processor at the time, I kinda regret it and now it seems I'm too late to get into that beta program.. Damn!!
