  • Asphyr to publish Gothic III (US) - Aspyr Media sent out a press release today announcing that it will be the US publisher for Gothic III, the next game in Piranha Bytes' fantasy RPG series. The game is scheduled to ship to stores in the first quarter of 2006. Aspyr has also announced they have shipped Gothic II Gold in North America.
  • MX vs. ATV Unleashed PC Announced - THQ today announced the franchise that redefined the off-road genre will debut for handheld and Windows PC when MX vs. ATV Unleashed: On the Edge comes to the PSP and MX vs. ATV Unleashed ships for Windows PC.
  • Diabolik Announced - Italian developer Artematica announced Diabolik, an upcoming PC and console adventure game.
  • Star Trek Online Update - Star Trek Online have posted a Blog entry taking a look at some Nielsen Media Research the developer did on Star Trek Online.
  • Take 2 Picks Up BioShock? - According to IGN, Take 2 will be publishing the spiritual successor to System Shock 2, BioShock.
  • CS 1.6 update -  This update seems to fix a FPS issue that some gamers were experiencing from a previous update.
  • EA Plans to Port Burnout Revenge to Xbox 360 - EA plans to make an Xbox 360 port of Criterion's Burnout Revenge which promises some amazing graphical improvements over exisiting versions.
  • Black screenshots (PS2/XBox) - Teamxbox has posted some new screenshots of the upcoming FPS, Black.
  • Dead Or Alive 4 Xbox 360 Delayed - Tecmo's upcoming Xbox 360 fighting game Dead or Alive 4 has suffered yet another delay, according to a pre-order date listing at EBGames.com. Originally scheduled for release for the console's launch on Nov. 22, the EBGames.com listing now shows a shipment date of Dec. 14.
  • Groups Protest Cannibalism in Video Games - Games featuring graphic scenes of cannibalism, "F.E.A.R." and "Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse," were among the 12 "games to avoid" listed Tuesday by the National Institute on Media and the Family.

  • Xbox 360 Contains Pricey Samsung Chips - Samsung announced Tuesday that it is providing the graphics memory chips being used in most of the first generation of Xbox 360. The chips are among an expensive list of components that some experts estimate to cost more than the devices themselves.
  • PS2 ships 100 million units - Sony Computer Entertainment has today announced that worldwide shipments of the PlayStation 2 reached 100 million units on November 29th 2005. This makes the PS2 the fastest console to reach that mark.

Yeah yeah, thanks Sony, like its not a coincedence this happens slap bang in the middle of the X360 launch. :roll:

"Our throats"? That message is aimed squarely in the larynx of developers. Translation: "You can put your resources into the Crashbox, with its anemic market share..."

"Or you can develop for the big boys."

I'd disagree, developers know full well where to put their time and money and any title they develop now for X360 will easily port to PS3 when the dev kits come out. I'd be surprised if anyone would start a mainstream project on the PS/Xbox platform now.

Sony's sole purpose for this announcement is to draw some attention away from MS and the x360. They can't compete but they sure can score some points. Good business practice some might say, I personally think its a sign of how they can't sell a product without bashing everyone elses.

They got very comfy with the PS1 which frankly was an outstanding product which sold itself. Now they are facing more competition you can see how they struggle to differenciate themselves. Even the uber gfx and super cell cpu lines are wearing a little thin, bring on the spin doctors.
