- Half-Life 2: The Orange Box Preview - GameSpot joins the growing
list of sites that have been able to
preview the Orange Box. Guess what? They have a couple of new
screens as well: Here's an interesting bit: While the PC, PlayStation
3, and Xbox 360 versions will be identical in terms of maps and modes, the
PC version will support up to 24 players on a server, while the two console
versions are limited to 16 per server.

- Tilted Mill to Develop New SimCity Game - A Games for Windows
cover story confirms that Electronic Arts has handed development duties on
the upcoming SimCity Societies to Tilted Mill Entertainment. In a report on
the new SimCity, 1UP provided a single
screenshot of the PC game, showing a low-altitude perspective of a city
block.
In a thread on the company's message board titled "You killed Sim City!"
Tilted Mill president Chris Beatrice clarified the game's approach, while
urging fans not to prematurely judge his team's efforts."I do not want to
mislead anyone: This SC is not a realistic urban simulation, which I
understand, to many, represents the heart of what SC is," Beatrice
admitted. "No one is blind to that. And if you're just completely turned
off, even angered by the mere notion of any game called 'SimCity' that is
not a detailed, realistic urban simulator, I absolutely understand that
viewpoint, and absolutely respect it.
- ATI Catalyst Hotfix For ArmA: Armed Assault - AMI has
released a new
ATI Radeon Catalyst driver hotfix for Windows XP/2000 users that is
being offered as a specific bug fix for Bohemia Interactive's recent
military action game ArmA: Armed Assault.
- Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar Patch v1.6 - Stardock has
released a
new patch for Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar, their recent
expansion pack for their critically acclaimed space strategy game. The 1.6.
patch includes a brand new graphics engine for the game that came as a
result of developing Stardock's upcoming (and unnamed) fantasy strategy
game.
- Hero Renamed to 'Dungeon Hero' - Firefly Studios'
dungeon-crawling action RPG Hero, announced by publisher Gamecock earlier
this year, has been renamed to
Dungeon Hero.
Gamecock Media Group plans to ship Firefly Studios' Dungeon Hero for PC and
Xbox 360 in early 2009.
- NetDevil MMO Dubbed LEGO Universe - NetDevil's upcoming
LEGO-branded massively multiplayer game will be known as
LEGO Universe,
Denmark-based licensor LEGO Group has revealed. Announced this March, the
game will be NetDevil's third MMO following the RPG-flavored space-centric
Jumpgate and last year's vehicular action-oriented Auto Assault.
- Assassin's Creed Release Date Announced -
UbiSoft has officially announced that the worldwide launch for
Assassin's Creed,
their upcoing third person action game from their Montreal dev studio will
be November 2007. The press release mentions a PS3, Xbox 360 and PC
platforms for the game.
- Overlord Dated -
This
announcement offers a release date for
Overlord,
Triumph Studios' upcoming good-to-be-bad game, saying both PC and Xbox 360
owners will be able to take command of their army of evil minions on June 26
in North America.
The PC demo should be out "in the next few days".
- TrackMania United Steamed -
TrackMania United, the newest in the popular TrackMania series of racing
games, is now headed to Steam. The game, TrackMania United will be available
for order shortly with a 20% discount if purchased before June 14th. Those
interested can pre-order the game right now for $23.95.
- Tomb Raider: Anniversary To Go Episodic For Xbox 360? - Eidos'
graphical remake of the first Tomb Raider game was released this week for
the PS2 and PC under the Tomb Raider: Anniversary title. Now the
Entertainment Software Ratings Board website has posted up
info that indicates that the
Xbox 360 could also get a port of the game
- Vampire Rain Goes Gold (Xbox 360) - Microsoft sent over word that
Vampire Rain, the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive horror themed stealth
action game from developer Artoon, has gone gold and will ship to stores on
July 3
- Florida Attorney General Concerned About Wii Manhunt 2 -
Florida's attorney general Bill McCollum is concerned about the Wii
version of Rockstar Games's upcoming M rated stealth action game Manhunt 2.
