Happy Christmas Eve to all who are celebrating, and happy December 24th to those who aren't :) It's unseasonably warm in these parts for the season (11deg Celsia in Czech republic)..but who cares :-) So again, to all my readers who celebrate Christmas, a very Merry Christmas to you, hopefully you will be enjoying this time of the year with your family and friends! I hope that Santa brings you everything you've asked for but above all else, good health, good wealth - and plenty of games! I'll be spending Christmas with my family, so updates will be limited.
  • Top 10 Disappointing Games of 2015 - ShackNews counts down the Top 10 Games that were a disappointment to us all in 2015.
  • Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition for Linux & OS X - Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition on Steam has been further enhanced, as the OS X and SteamOS editions of Larian's RPG remake are now available. These are free to those who already own the game, and for those who don't, it's currently on sale for 33% off as an enticement
  • The Witness Video - A blog post for The Witness has a progress report on the upcoming puzzle game from Braid creator Jonathan Blow
  • Shenmue 3 - New Video Shows Off A Hut In The Bailu Village - Ys Net has released a new video for Shenmue 3, thus giving us a glimpse at a hut in Bailu Village. Shenmue 3 is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and according to its Slacker Backer Campaign, Ys Net is discussing the PC version with the related parties
  • Escape from Tarkov Trailer - There's a new trailer from Escape from Tarkov on the official website for Battlestate Games' upcoming MMOG, offering a sneak peek at its inventory and looting systems.
  • Diablo III Patch 2.4.0 Removes Seasonal Legendaries - One of the new features of Diablo 3's patch 2.4.0 is actually the removal of a feature: the removal of seasonal Legendaries. Massively OP did a slightly more thorough write-up on the changes made to Diablo 3 in patch 2.4.0 involving the seasonal Legendaries. The removal of the Legendary items comes with the replacement with six-piece Legendary equipment for everyone, not just those who unlock the seasonal content.  In the changelog there was a long roll out of information on the new and different sets that Blizzard implemented into the game to help give gamers more versatility and opportunities for equipping the different characters with Legendary items.

  • Retro-tech: 2015 was an astounding year for one cassette tape factory - Cassette tapes, like vinyl albums, are making a comeback. While CDs and digital media still reign supreme, according to a 2015 mid-year Nielsen report, the largest operational cassette factory in the US reports an impressive increase in demand. National Audio Company (NAC) President Steve Stepp told Ars that his Springfield, Missouri, company had been seeing a (very) healthy 20 percent year-over-year growth in demand for audiocassette tapes for several years. But 2015 was even better. As of the beginning of October, NAC reported a 31 percent increase in order volume over the previous year.
  • Mint 17.3 may be the best Linux desktop distro yet - This is a big release: Linux Mint 17.3 marks the final release that will be built atop Ubuntu 14.04 and marks the pinnacle of the project's plan to stop chasing every Ubuntu release and focus on perfecting what makes Mint, well, Mint. When Ubuntu puts out its next Long Term Support release in April of 2016, Mint will have to upgrade its base system. Mint's LTS strategy was a risky move, as it bucked several trends by opting to pass on whatever butterflies Ubuntu was chasing. Sticking with a stable base and steadfastly refusing to inflate its version numbers may well have left some users at a loss. Jests aside, turning its back on the latest and greatest GTK and kernel updates that come from tracking Ubuntu's every move is not without some costs, but overall the strategy seems to have been a huge success.

@Mint. For years almost since it came out it was my Linux of choice but now I use Lubuntu. Smaller less bloat. Mint is the next best thing to Windows as far as I'm concerned.
