- First Half-Life: Alyx non-VR mod that lets you complete the
entire game - A
new Half-Life: Alyx no VR mod has been released online today,
allowing players to complete the game without a VR headset. This isn't
the first no VR mod that has been developed for Valve's VR game, but it
is the first one that allows the game to be played through and
completed with little to no issues. It is not the ideal way to
experience the game, considering controls are somewhat complicated, but
it's definitely better than nothing for Half-Life fans who do not own a
VR headset. Half Life: Alyx could have been the "killer app" that VR
needed for a
booming mainstream adoption - much like the original Halo was the sales
point for many an Xbox system back in the days. However, it seems that
this isn't the case - and likely won't ever be. The core of the problem
is that VR does not really replace anything, it is an addition to a
gamer's kit. So it better be good, or its just a gimmick. Its exactly
like all the other one-day-fly peripherals we've had before... even the
Wii didn't survive and Kinect was even unbundled from the X1 go
figure... And even now, 95% of gaming is still done with most basic
stuff (KB/M or controller). You can only do one thing at a time and
there are tons of entertainment things to choose from. And then, when
you start weighing pros and cons... you do meet the price argument, and
it stacks on top of the other major and minor niggles.
- Dismemberment Mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord - The mod adds the gore aspect of dismemberment.
Both players and NPCs will get a chance to decapitate the head of the enemy
(hell yeah!), if they do fatal cut damage to an enemy's head by
swinging left or right.
- Crysis of Confidence: Remake Hints? - Back on April 1st,
Crytek updated the official website for Crysis. And while its source
code hinting at this being an April Fools joke, Crytek may very well be
working on a new Crysis game. Earlier today, the team has shared a cryptic message, hinting at
either Crysis 4 or Crysis Remake/Remaster. Or possibly Crysis VR :D
- Resident Evil 4 Remake probably in development - Numerous
anonymous sources have disclosed to Videogameschronicle.com that
a remake of Resident Evil 4 seems to be in the
pipeline. Much like the last two Resident Evil games,
the fourth entry is rumored to receive the full, next-gen makeover, and
aims to be released in 2022.
- PS5 BC Will Support Almost 4000 PS4 Games At Launch With High
Resolution and FPS - PS5 is confirmed to have backward compatibility with
the PS4, and this
could lead to the older games running at a higher resolution and fps.
Sony recently held a technical presentation on the spec for the
PlayStation 5. One of the news that was confirmed with this
presentation was support for backward compatibility for the PS4 games.
It has been revealed that there will be three different compatibility
modes. One will emulate the base PS4, the other a PS4 Pro, while the
last one will offer high resolution and frame rate with a native PS5
mode. Official PlayStation Magazine UK has issued its May 2020
subscription and it has confirmed that almost 4000 games will be
playable on the PS5 through backward compatibility.
