- Beyond Good And Evil Preview - Frictionless Insight has posted
a preview of Beyond Good and Evil, the upcoming console/PC action game
from Ubi Soft.
- UFO Aftermath Preview - Loaded.inc let us know they have posted up
a hands-on preview of ALTAR Interactive's UFO: Aftermath.
- Counter Strike for Xbox Preview - Gamespot has posted
some impressions from Xbox version of Counter Strike. "We got to play on
three maps: Dust and Italy, which should be eminently familiar to longtime CS
players, and Vostok, a snowy demolition map made especially for the Xbox game
(of the 20 maps that will initially be available, seven are Xbox-exclusive).
The two old maps played very much like their PC counterparts, though they
looked a lot more detailed. Cliffe pointed out that the Xbox version uses 24-
and 32-bit textures instead of the 8-bit palettized ones found on the PC."
- Half-Life 2 Q&A - Planet Half-Life has posted
a Q&A with Marc Laidlaw of Valve as he talks about their upcoming first
person shooter sequel Half-Life 2.
- John Romero Interview - Doom3.cz has
an interview
with John Romero, a former member of id Software responsible for games
such as Doom and Quake1.
- America's Army Patch- There's
a small patch available for the 1.9.0 America's Army client, which fixes
authentication timeouts in the single-player training, the honor filter in the
server browsers, and a problem with the admin scoreboard.
- Russobit-M to publish Phase: Exodus - Russobit-M announced that the
contract with "Horns & Hoofs" developers studio for publishing the "Phase:
Exodus" RPG was signed. The genre of the game is RPG with a strong strategy
element. The action there will take place at the territory of Western Syberia,
near Baikal lake - at the near future. The post-apocalyptic setting has to
take us in the middle of the conflict between groups of people, which were
separated when the great catastrophe took place. The approximate date of
release is planned at the beginning of 2005.
- Celtic Kings: The Punic Wars Shots - Haemimont Games let us know
that they have updated
the official Celtic Kings: The Punic Wars website with first screens from
the current build of the upcoming RTS/RPG title.
- Savage: The Battle for Newerth Ships - S2 Games and iGames
Publishing today announced that
"Savage: The Battle
for Newerth" has shipped to retail stores nationwide. Savage is considered
by many to be the first title to seamlessly meld two separate game genres,
real-time strategy and first-person shooter, into one game. Savage has an MSRP
of $49.99 and has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB.
- EverQuest: Lost Dungeons of Norrath Ships - Sony Online announced
that Everquest: Lost Dungeons of Noratth, the latest expansion pack for their
hit massively multiplayer RPG, is now shipping to stores.
- Max Payne 2 Console Dates - According to the official
Max Payne 2
website, the PS2 and Xbox versions of Remedy and Rockstar's upcoming crime
action game sequel will ship to stores on Dec. 3. The PC version of the game
will be available on Oct. 15.
- 60 Million PS2s Shipped Worldwide - Sony Computer
Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) announced today that cumulative worldwide shipment
of its PlayStation2 computer entertainment system
reached 60 million units on September 6, 2003
