EA Launches Take Two Buyout Website - briefly
(hx) 01:25 AM CET - Feb,26 2008 - Post a comment / read (3)
Apparently Electronic Arts wants to purchase rival game publisher Take Two Interactive pretty badly. The company has now launched its own web site devoted to their $2 billion proposal, with the URL called eatake2.com. Take Two has not officially commented on the EA takeover bid since its initial press release on Sunday where Take Two stated it felt EA's offer to be "inadequate in multiple respects and not in the best interests of Take-Two's stockholders."
Right now, Take-Two's future is uncertain. Take-Two's creative teams make fantastic games and the company has gotten some good interim support from a group of new corporate leaders. But Take-Two is facing a host of threats and - with or without combination with EA - we believe there is a strong likelihood that the company will be sold in the not-too-distant future. We also believe that EA's proposal to acquire Take-Two is a good one for the people that make the games or are involved in leading these creative teams. We're offering stable management with an executive team that truly understands games. EA has a powerful publishing capability. We want to offer these and other advantages to Take-Two's creative teams and provide them an environment that shields these teams from unnecessary interference and allows them to keep making great games. For people who buy and play games, know that we too are fans of Take-Two and Rockstar products and feel we can provide their creative teams with the support they deserve to continue to bring you more of their great games in the future.

I agree with roller. What the hell is going on in this world? There should be a limit as to how much each company is allowed to grow. Especially in EAs case. These guys must stop messing around the game industry. THey are destoying it. They are forcing the programmers to do their bidding. Look at crysis for example. They forced its release and the result was an unoptimised piece of shit! All they want is having you constantly throwing money at them. EA MUST GO DOWN ASAP!

Unfortunately, the whole PC games industry is in as much $hit as the hardware sector.
This is about buying for 'exclusives' ie for release on a console first/only. It's the only way to make money now. (certainly not on PC)
EA/M$ are just trying to buy everyone out to make as much revenue as possible.
Nintendo appears to be the only independant company that can still do original games, without some draconian corporation telling them what it wants and WHEN it wants it.
Even Sony still panders, on the occasion, to the buck/pound signs...
