EA Cuts Jobs - Again - briefly

An EA staff member has updated the EA Blog with word of more job cuts by the publisher. In recent weeks, EA has aligned all elements of its organizational structure behind priorities in new technologies and mobile. This has led to some difficult decisions to reduce the workforce in some locations. We are extremely grateful for the contributions made by each of our employees – those that are leaving EA will be missed by their colleagues and friends.

These are hard but essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us.

They'll have to fire someone or else the remaining just keep producing crap. Scare tactics.

At lease they're firing people, something the public sector never does.

Public sector lets people go plenty. You won't get your contract renewed or depending on your age retire early. Public sector jobs like Police/LEOs don't really get downsized unfortunately. They have tanks and shit half the time nowadays. Lean times for them are more or less cruisers that don't get updated for a decade or more or maintained well. Sometimes they freeze any hiring and cut back on overtime. Where I'm located LEO's can make around 80k a year with overtime and other avenues via training courses or prison work. That's way too much money for a high school education and some community college at best.
