The most intriguing thing about Athena Sword is the variety of new modes that players will be able to choose from. If you find the single player campaign too easy, there will be a "Countdown" mode where you'll have to perform your mission within a time limit. In multiplayer, there will be four new deathmatch modes. "Terrorist Hunter" will pit two teams against each other with terrorists interspersed randomly throughout the levels. "Scattered Hunt" spreads players randomly through the level, and they'll have to regroup if they want to survive. "Capture the Enemy" is a mode where players will get to enjoy a good ol' game of freeze tag. Once a player is killed, they raise their hands as if they give up. They'll be able to talk to allies and "unfreeze" once an ally touches them. If the killer is sneaky and has enough time, they'll be able to handcuff their helpless victim. That will increase the amount of time it takes to unfreeze him, and of course a clever killer will use that extra time to pick off whoever came to the rescue. One last multiplayer mode is called "Kamikaze." One team has a member strapped with a bomb and armed only with a pistol. The other team has a fully equipped squad attempting to find the location in the level where the bomb's detonator is. The bomb squad therefore has the dual responsibilities of protecting a weak character and a location.
