There's a new column at CNN Money which offers a great overview of the ongoing problems with the Duke Nukem franchise. Seems like the publisher (Take Two) has serious issues with 3D Realms, and vice versa. Later that day, 'George Broussard, co-owner of 3D Realms, made this post (thanks Shams) on the official 3DRealms forums: "But yeah, the comments were unprofessional, but they were also in direct response to T2 saying some fairly inappropriate and poorly worded things about DNF in their conference call to investors (not once but twice on two different calls). Two wrongs don't make a right, but we really weren't going to let the comments stand without response. People tend to make too much out of these things. Just remember that we're funding the game. It's safe and secure with us, and it will be completed"

Well now the official 3DR board is down for maintenance (at the time of writing)...or a good time to get rid of what GB said about take 2 in it. This sore relationship was going on for a LONG time...and now it's all out & open :-/

3DRealms funding it with revenue from their millions of other Duke Nukem games and merchendise, I predict it will (eventually) be completed but suck and 3D Reals will go under and/or be purchased by a larger company like lets say Jo-Wood =)

I was registered with 3DR about a year before Max Payne came out. The amount of times that forum was down made a prostitute blush! George Broussard and co want to just give it all up as a bad joke -they are hopeless in handling the DNF fiasco. I seriously doubt the quality of the code for DNF, Diakatana anyone? It must be what 4-5years old at least Everytime someone mentions DNF i get flashbacks to '95! Because DNF *is* stuck in a time warp

the game is a joke and George is useless. What people dont know is programmers and stuff are leaving the project and there is a question on just how complete the game is. How a company can stand by and fund these morons is beyond me. If I was TakeTwo I'd kick George and his bum buddies out the door right now. If these guys were even worth their weight, they would have put this game out long ago. Reason being, George is a jerk and a liar and his moderator is a fag. You got to post something negative about DNF on their forums and watch Joe the (professional moderator, i prefer the word Ahole) delete your post. 3DRealms was doing really well with D3D but since are nothing. DNF I still believe is a joke and the engine has changed a few times. You add it all up. There is no DNF and 3DRealms is just a marketing company.

It is my frim belife the game is not dead nor on hold.I think 3dr is just angry that they cant be left alone to do what they want to do.That is why they always say when its done.They dont want pressure from a publisher media or anybody.The game will come out be the best it can probally not be as good as DOOM III in graphics but gameplay will blow you away.Ive been watching the 3dr forums for 5 years so Everything is a go.And I dont think goerge is a bit regretfull about what he said to Take two.."STFU"

Well being someone who followed it's progress for sometimes, George has enough problems getting programmers. From what I have heard, George is a dick, some of his longtime staff is a dick and he's a hard guy to work for. I've also heard that some have left because George is continually re-writing code and not firming up on anything. The game is a mess of development. I'd be surprised to even see this game within 2 years. It's a lost cause.

It's a wonder he hasn't deleted himself by accident!!! What do 3DRealms consist of? Joe and...Joe....then there's Joe oh! of course George. If the guys would get off the forums and do some work, the game would have been finished *years ago* Can you just remotely think of compairing DNF to Deus Ex 2,Thief 3 and Half-Life 2 on the Unreal2 engine????? Nope didn't think you could. When DNF was being made we were running Voodoo2s....say's it all doesn't it. RIP DNF....

Wow found this post from 'abnoxious arrogant' George in that thread above from shams. "Do you expect us to account for every action and decision that's made? I think you expect too much. I mentioned it merely because someone was asking about Lee and I thought it was appropriate to tell them. Shocking everyone? We make 50 decisions a day - most of which would shock you if you knew about them. Same with every other company. You just have to understand that most of it isn't your business" Your right guys **what** a dickhead!!

Hilarious situation. Here's George, who spends long days trying to get 14-year old game buyers excited about a product that doesn't even exist. When his notoriously low-attention span audience finally rebels over having nothing to play and no screen shots to look at, he goes berserk, cancelling posts and giving nasty interviews. Meanwhile, the disappointed publisher just wants to make some money. Which, remember, is the point here - not to make some ridiculous "masterpiece" based on a dull stereotyped cartoon character that people will play for a couple of weeks before tiring of its silly hero in suspenders and moving onto yet another disposable video game. The idea of George and his crew spending HALF A DECADE or more fashioning new and better Duke Nukem versions, and all the while George parading around the games scene as if he's the Francis Ford Coppola of gaming... Future "genuises," take note: this is how to make a laughinstock out of yourself.

i think george did the right think. that kind of crap from (Take two) should not be tolerated. Making conclusion's with no supportive facts is called making a stupid conclusion. How can you have doubts about computer code you have not even seen? you can not evalute something you have not seen or have no information on. its simply not possible. IGNORANCE IS NOT KNOWLEDGE. fuck read a logic book. too many stupid people !!! grrrrrrrrr!
