Soon after revealing Demon Hunter, the final class for Diablo III, Blizzard Senior VP for Creative Development Chris Metzen also announced that the game will have PvP arena battles.

because traveling to the corner of the game to play pvp is fun... not. Please stop protecting the players from the games, getting pked should be part of the game, not some tacked on feature.

Spoken exactly like I would expect from someone who believes he should be free to grief kill other players as long as the end serves what he wants and he is enjoying himself. Screw and to hell the enjoyment of other players.
Not everyone enjoys your mindless Pk style asshole. As soon as all you hardcore PVP/PK types except that the better.

The world doesn't revolve around the small minority that enjoy PVP/PKing

PKing is not mindless. Leveling up and farming is mindless.
Human player interaction is what MMOs are about, NOT KILLING NPCS. You can do that single player.

If developers keep listening to you we will be getting more and more WoW clones, games without healthbars (hide and heal), and the gradual degradation of any sort of skill cap.

The best player is not the player who played the longest and got the shiniest armor. Your kind does not get it. If your kind had their way it would be impossible to loose in a game. You are just scared of loosing a game.

Actually, Diablo III is a single player game with multiplayer capability, in my opinion, i found pvp to be lacking in enjoyment, since 90% of players prefer to win by any means within the games rules.

50-50 chance of losing, they run, they only grow a backbone when they will win without a doubt, which is why most players that love to pvp like to kill harmless players.

Which means pvp is mindless killing of players that can't fight back, forcing players into doing pvp would kill the game so fast, blizzard won't have time to go 'WTF happend?'

I do think pvp should be a choice and only a choice, when a game forces you into it, is when you can count the days until it dies, if griefing other players as they try to play the game is what you love to do as entertainment, i really do advise you to get some psychological help as fast as possible.

I hate all form of pvp because it is pretty much the same thing, no matter the game it is in, if it works, they use it ALL the time, no different strategies, they do the same thing, over and over and over again.

How they did it in Diablo 2 is a bad thing because a higher level player could just go hostile and bam, all lower levels are dead, sorry but being forced into something i do not want to do is not a good way to keep a game alive.

This is why i play wow on the pve realms, pvp'ers can go onto the pvp realms and pvp to their hearts' content, but do NOT think that because you enjoy pvp, doesn't mean everyone else does as well.

Honestly I would pk people lower or equal wouldn't matter to me. Zones where it's FFA or open pvp that are used for leveling or questing my first thought is to grab the best stealthy pvp type class character and just make people mad by killing them while they do a quest or pve. It's not so much about the level though to me as it's the frustration the other player might experience that gives me pleasure.

Hell the only redeeming fun thing I did in STO was use my bird of prey and attack feds in the borg quest zone since it was bugged or something. Wait till they are on mob then sub nuke beam + viral then cast rapid fire and cruiser or not they were toast :). Sucks being locked down for 30s while a mob and a klingon beat on ya. People got mad and it just made me do it even more :).

Anyways the best pvp I've had has been daoc mmo wise. It was your choice to pve in the rvr zones or in darkness falls and with that the cons were you would get ganked. You had bonuses for relics or owning them plus bonus xp later on for pveing there plus the fights could usually be fun most nights. I don't mind this system at all since daoc had it right pretty much. Warhammer tried to improve it or change it and failed.

WoW had bg's later which daoc had for quite awhile and while daoc's were quite good wow's just seemed kind of bland or too much pve involved. I did have fun in wow when the pvp zones were all you had and we had some nice fights to and fro in some of the zones. It was harmless fun because you weren't rewarded in any way for pvping so everyone was in it for fun. Wow sort of killed BG's and whatnot for me eventually with all the rewards and must haves in some cases. DAOC you worried about realm rank and you chose an ability or stat improvement but it wasn't that bad or overpowered in most cases compared to these newer reward systems like in WoW.

My point in the end though is both paths shouldn't be discounted as they can be fun with the right treatment. If you want to appease most people though I would choose a more daoc approach as we can pvp or not depending on what's going on.

Also, i remember jumping a player as he was doing a quest on wow on a pvp realm before i went pure pve and it honestly made me feel like hell, how you find pleasure in making other players experience crap is beyond me, which i think must be a violation of the terms and agreements or something.

But Seperate servers for pvp and pve are a must and if not, severate pve and pvp zones, pvp zones will not have any pve quests at all in them...problem solved, that way, you will be on hopefully even pegging, which means a fair fight, which not many players go for, they tend to prefer the 'i win' button.

It's interesting you think it's illegal or some sort of violation. There's no such thing as an honor code my friend in any MMO I've played with any sort of pvp. It's obvious though that you haven't played titles like Ultima or Shadowbane or even DAOC on the Mordred server (FFA pvp meaning everyone is fair game just about anywhere to boot). Eve Online is another game that kind of proves the case that a psuedo FFA pvp is wanted as they've continually had an increasing subscriber base.

I'm not sure why you keep going on about iwin buttons and fair fights. It's rare to have a fair fight in life or even in demarcated zones like battle grounds. Someone will have an edge somewhere be it extra computer equipment, better internet, or just better game choices. Fair fights are an exception and are glorious fights but I think you dream a little much :).

Wow pvp servers are a bad example in this thread as they weren't really different than pve. There is nothing wrong with disliking pvp at all as it's your choice. Buy the games you like to play and don't let anyone tell you what you like. I still play many games in single player like sins civ5 sc2 etc.

i agree on the point that there is no fair fight in mmos, unless you play against someone with the same class, same build, same gear etc. someone will always have an edge but that exact fact makes the pvp pointless. Unless of course your goal is just to piss people off. if your goal was to better yourself, to improve you ability instead of just making people suffer you wouldnt gank people since there wouldnt be any point in it.

but hey maybe you just lack some mirror neurons and cant help it. like most eve players i guess, or i should say most since even in eve more the half of the accounts never leave highsek.

It's funny you mention bettering ones self and ganking. I don't think you can separate the two. Would you rather practice tennis with a pro or some person off the street? Would you grow or better yourself if you played someone worse than yourself? I don't think a person would video game or not. What about parents that are alcoholics or have no money the list goes on that basically force their child to better themselves?

Anyways this isn't a first semester psych class so we'll move on :).

Simple personal attacks are great! Speaking of this who are you to say that lacking neurons or the way you think I am is irregular? It's quite easy to say that anyone who doesn't gank is odd or weird. The eve sticking to highsec space who's to say those people aren't off in some way? We know the real reason for it though which are many and it has nothing to do with neurons or wanting to be nice to other players :).

I play games to relax, not to "better myself". I leave that for RL. PvP is frustrating to me in games that are not about PvP but about quests. If I want to PvP, gank, get frustrated etc. I play DOTA or HoN. I certainly don't expect to get ganked while I mash LMB while holding a cup of cofe in other hand, playing diablo 2 or something like that. Just like I don't expect to be hit by Hummer while driving to work... :P

it should be a choice. If I fell that I can be competitive, or want my ass kicked, ok, I will join a pvp challenge and that's it. I don't want to be forced into it. I usually skip PvP because I hate to invest time into pvp builds, learn tricks like a dog to be able to kill anyone etc. Like someone said, it's usually not fair anyway, learning curve for pvp against strangers is pretty much long and has nothing to do with PvE part of the game etc.
only FPS online matches can be fair and learning curve is usually not that long, at least for surviving, and you can get a frag or two even as a n00b, that would keep you playing thus you will develop some skills in time...ofc, there are fps frag spammers as well but I think there is lot less of them and it is harder to silent run and knife opponents without being fragged/discovered then nuking someone who has just started to play DOTA/HoN/WoW or whatever.
