eToychest: With so many excellent first-person games coming out this winter season, Doom III and Half-Life 2 chief among them, how are you making sure that Deus Ex: Invisible War stands out as the brightest gem in such a prestigious group? Warren Spector: Sadly, it looks as if neither Doom 3 nor Half Life 2 will be coming out for fall after all, so standing out may not be quite as challenging as it might have been! But, even if those titles had come out, I don't think players would have had any trouble telling the three games apart. I mean, I don't have any inside information or anything but I think it's safe to say that Doom 3 will be a thrilling, terrifying roller coaster ride of virtual violent mayhem. Similarly, how much you want to bet that Half Life 2 is going to be a stunning narrative experience with powerful scripted sequences and some really cool simulation elements? Invisible War is superficially similar to both those games, but only superficially. We're the only hybrid action/RPG/shooter that's all about unique player experience. Doom 3 and Half Life 2 don't even TRY to do that (thank god - we don't need the competition!). Bottom line -- all three games are nicely differentiated from one another and players get that.
