21-year-old Bulgarian cracker Voksi has revealed how he beat version 4.9 of Denuvo, which kept Assassin’s Creed Origins out of pirates’ hands for the last few months. The video is pretty dry and technical, but it does provide insight into the complexities and inner workings of DRM. Voksi says his entire cracking career began with this one indie game and his desire to play it with his best friend. Prior to that, he had absolutely no experience at all. He says he’s taken no university courses or any course at all for that matter. Everything he knows has come from material he’s found online. But the intrigue doesn’t stop there.

You know, as long as the code runs on my PC, any type of DRM is a moot point. (There's reason why these media giants keep trying to get games streamed rather than downloaded...)
New DRMs take a little longer to crack but once the patterns have been identified, tools are built that can get most of the job done in an instant and with a little tweaking, get the crack out in a day or two.
The only question is: is the cost of the DRM lower than the sales lost over a few days while it's cracked?
I think not - but it annoys paying customers a lot...

Honestly, I don't give a hoot about DRM if the code can run on my PC. (There is an incentive for these media conglomerates to push for online gaming rather than file sharing....)
Cracking new DRMs takes more time, but once the patterns are discovered, tools are developed that can accomplish the bulk of the work in an instant and, with minor adjustments, release the crack in a day or two.
Whether or if the expense of the DRM is less than the sales lost for a few days while it is cracked is the sole question.
Probably not, but it sure does annoy the heck out of paying consumers.
