CanadiaGamer: After Battlecruiser Generations, you have mentioned that Battlecruiser Online will be your last Battlecruiser title. Why is that? Derek Smart: Quite simply because I'm tired of the PC industry's song and dance. I'm tired of chasing technology, literally killing myself every two years to come out with a new product. And then having to deal with all the rubbish associated with that venture. Because I am notorious for putting in freebies in my game patches, I figured that I'd rather do it on a regular basis with a game that was going to pay for itself over time. By developing Battlecruiser Online (the MMOG version of BCG), I can focus on other more challenging and secure development environments, while allowing that product to fund itself by the fan base. And if it stops being profitable, despite my efforts, I'll just pull the plug and they [fanbase] will only have themselves to blame - because it will be the last time they get to play such a game again. Ever.
