Denuvo 6.0 has been cracked - briefly

For the past couple months, a lot of publishers were able to secure their PC games by using the latest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. And while it has taken crackers a while, it appears that this latest version, which is now called Denuvo 6.0, has been cracked. Earlier yesterday, a specific game cracking group was able to crack the latest version of Total War: Three Kingdoms. Total War: Three Kingdoms was updated one week ago to version 1.1.0 (which could mean that it has the latest version of Denuvo) and… as you may have guessed...the cracked version is based on version 1.1.0. It will be interesting to see now whether SEGA will remove Denuvo from its game (this seems unlikely as the previous Total War games are still using it) and whether other publishers – like Bethesda has removed Denuvo from its cracked games in the past – will remove this controversial anti-tamper tech from their games.

It was inevitable, really.
Once cracked, it's a cat and mouse play where either one will run out of breath. My bet is on Denuvo running out of breath.

Single player games with copy protection should have a time limit. DRM can unlock after the peak sales period. This means they would still capitalise on the majority demographic of those:

1) Who are technologically inept that they cba to pirate a game or risk going that route.
2) The unprepared newbs that already received a cease and desist.
3) Impulsive gamers.
4) Achievement whores. Steam users et al.
5) Your alcoholic room mate Dave who is mostly a console gamer and believes there is only one kind of pirate. Johnny Depp.
6) People with a burdening guilty conscience.

Are the man hours required to engineer the next iteration of Denuvo justified by the increase in sales during this "Let's wait for Denuvo to be ass fucked" intermission?

Maybe this is the equilibrium that publishers are complacent with, but I feel that crackers would be less inclined if there was a time limit. It might also encourage DRM developers to produce less invasive code.
