Dark Souls II:Scholar of the First Sin-Gameplay #1 - preview/review

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin might seem like a simple remake, but a new gameplay trailer released today shows us that's obviously not true. While returning players will find the locations pretty familiar, enemies aren't nearly so static. The video takes us through the Forest of Fallen Giants, an area you can explore fairly early on in Dark Souls 2. While some enemies are found in their old spots, new spawns are just waiting for an opportunity to surprise you. Of course, for anyone who's stepping into Dark Souls 2 for the first time with Scholar of the First Sin, the differences don't mean much. Scholar of the First Sin is an HD re-release for Dark Souls 2 that also happens to mark its debut on current-gen consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC will be getting the updated version as well come April 7.



In related news, Bandai Namco has recently filed trademark for the title "Soldiers' Soul" in Europe. Unfortunately, this represents the entirety of what I know about the project at the time, as the trademark gives little other information other than it is a video game and will exist at some point in the future. However, considering the success that Bandai Namco has had with the Dark Souls games, it isn't unreasonable to assume this might be a brand new entrant in the Souls series.
