Cyberpunk 2077 beta email phishing scam - briefly

CD Projekt RED have warned fans about a rather extensive email phishing scam being employed in an attempt to catch gamers interested in playing Cyberpunk 2077, and stealing their personal details. The scam asks would-be players to sign up for a gameplay beta of Cyberpunk, prompting the Polish devs to address the situation via the game's official Twitter account. CD Projekt have stated in the past that no beta for the game will be made available before its release, but the scammers clearly didn't get that memo. As reported by Eurogamer, this isn't the first time this has happened, either. A Reddit thread posted over a year ago warns of a similar email advertising beta codes to players.

CD Projekt RED has quicky issued a statement that all future content will be announced through CD Projekt Red’s official channels, and emails will come from this ‘@cdprojektred.com’ address. Just in case you got this phishing email in your Inbox, please do not open it. Mark the email as spam, and consider warning your friends and family of this scam as well, so that they don’t fall for it either.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be debuting November 19th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game confirmed to work on PS5 and Xbox Series X on the consoles' release days as a free upgrade.
