The guys over at Ritualistic have posted a some new shots from Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, the upcoming single-player version of the popular Counter-Strike Half-Life multiplayer mod. Seems the game is nearly done - finally! Here you can check Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Retail Box. Counter-Strike: Condition Zero should be available this summer.

w00t!!! Can't wait for CS: Condition Zero!!! I've read that it may be released at the end of Q2,which is this month!!!

Does anyone care?

JSoloposted - Jun, 20 2003 - 21:29
This game would be about 1000 times better if they waited a few more months and used the Half Life 2 engine instead. Otherwise, it is basically a overplayed title that still looks like ass.

Lard Assposted - Jun, 20 2003 - 21:53
i agree JSolo these lame ass time wasters have taken sooooo long that the next mod team will use the HL2 engine as a MP tactical ops game, which i reckon we'll see the release of the CZ, another Duke Wankem in the making ! Delivery is Everything in 2days PC gaming industry, words dont cut it anymore, SHOW US THE GOODS !

I love the backwards texture on one of the screenshots, lol. The game engine has not aged well. Doom 1 anyone?

nonamethanksposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 00:52
Looks like half-life with more polygons and crappier maps...

NOTHINGposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 01:36
Not bad considering it's a 6 or 7 year old engine. But yeah, JSolo is right. Sorry, gameplay or no gameplay, the graphics are just turning me off and I wouldn't buy it.

I only have one thing to say -- CRATES!!! :-P

Slippery Jimposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 04:35
If I never again see a crate or a pop machine in a video game I would be one very happy camper.

thuggishposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 04:54
the engine may be old. the textures may not look as good as ut2k3 or doom 3 or hl 2, but the gameplay is all that matters. GAMEPLAY PEOPLE!

fx-d00d3posted - Jun, 21 2003 - 08:22
thuggish -- i didn't buy a FX5900 just for gameplay. ;-)

devil666posted - Jun, 21 2003 - 09:08
is it first person or third person that is what i wanne now

Hjarryposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 09:21
Graphics shmafics. It looks like an aging whore, sure, but it'll be the AI that really matters. Considering all the moolah they've poured down the crapper in development, it had better be the coolest botplay ever.

chrisposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 09:56
this game looks aweful, looks bad, and looks old.. yeah gameplay matters but also eyecandy..whats the point of having all these GIGA CPUs and GPUs when game makers spend 20 years making a game using an engine that is a century old

gfposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 12:43
FFS, not EVERYONE has super-duper PCs!!! quit moaning.

JSoloposted - Jun, 21 2003 - 23:34
The problem with PC gaming is all the people who are "financially-challenged". Consequently, game makers have to create games for people using 1ghz Athlons and GeForce 2 MXs. If more people would upgrade already and try to at least keep up with the curve (at least get a DX8 compliant card), more developers would create engines with more features and games that just look better. I agree that gameplay matters, but with take the CS game play you so love and marry it with the Half Life 2 engine (which also scales well according to Valve) and you have a game that is that much better. The Half Life 2 engine is supposed to be very easy to create mods for and we've seen that the physics engine is superb. So put them together and delay the release of CS just a few more months. I think waiting a little bit longer will be completely worth it.

Slippery Jimposted - Jun, 22 2003 - 02:47
CS has great game play? You guys need to get out more, lmao.

Hjarryposted - Jun, 22 2003 - 07:11
Yes, why don't people stop laying around on their ass paying bills, show some intiative, and instead of buying food for themselves and their families, upgrade their computers already? Slackers! Haven't they heard? Under western capitalism, everyone's got tons of extra money, and all you need to do is point that money at a new computer, and you'll be helping FPS game development to get out of the dark ages!

gfposted - Jun, 22 2003 - 14:18
erm, providing food for your family is more important then upgrading a machine. If you had a family you would surely know that!

Lard Assposted - Jun, 22 2003 - 17:49
Hjarry put it on the plastic ;) anyway Jsolo they wont make the HL2 CS mod cause it will destory the so called hard work/time/marketing invested in CZ. So i reckon in about Aug 2004 we'll see some mods coming out 4 HL2 unfortunately all the HARDCORE CS fans would have bought the CZ and like u said waste time & money for nothing !

tomposted - Jun, 23 2003 - 15:11
I'm not putting down CS. CS is what really helped get Valve all the money. CS is the most popular game on the net. But these graphics just turn me off. The faces always look the same no matter what they do and the engine is older than crap, but great netcode. People are just trying to soak this engine as much as they can. I'd rather just play CS. IMHO.
