CryEngine2 Comparison Screenshots

Some more CryEngine2 vs Real-Life screenshots have popped up. They are in very low resolution though so it's hard to see the detail in some of them. The lighting engine is responsible for most of the realism in CryEngine2 and these screens. It's simply incredible. Note that these comparisons are probably around 6 months old if not older. So with that in mind, you can only imagine how the engine would be comparing now. In other news, GameTrailers have taken their
own video of the CryEngine2 sandbox
(57.4MB) from GDC 2007. The tools aren't shown all that much, but the visuals are just incredible.

I'd be a fool to say it ain't pretty but the requirements are disgusting. Unlike others who will drool and run out and give into big monopolistic companies that gouge people and call it the price of changing technology. I can wait to see gfx like this.

Nice comparison shots, but I remember seeing something similar, if not the exact same shots a few months ago?

Anyone with photoshop experience knows that the smaller you make an image, the more you hide the blemishes in any subject. If they zoomed in on the sand of the beach, or the leaves on the trees, you'd see how far there is to go.
It's just an illusion. A good one, but an illusion still.
Think along the same lines of anchor women not wanting to be shown in HD, or porn "actresses"... With higher resolution you see all the bad stuff. A nice little 200px image makes your mind fill in the blanks.
