Ya i like it too, its pretty impressive. But I'm not liking the video lag associated with big fire fights or when someone nukes, hopefully that will be improved. Aside from the above, the graphics are really well done and it's unfortunate that EA swallowed up Westwood, cuz now i can't trust anything anymore. Compared to AOM, the netcode in this game is a lot better and no tinkering with my network adapters to get the game working, it auto detects my internet interface all the time. This game has also succeeded in keeping C&C alive and with this new engine, I can't wait for the addons. My only real gripe is, 3 races gets boring. Otherwise a 8.5/10

ok, i have some MAJOR complaints about this latest game in the C&C series 1. control options - CANT CHANGE ANYTHING - wtf is that, i emailed ea about it and they said "When the game was in testing, it was not determined that key re-binding would be required or desired. I am sorry that the game does not offer this feature, however I will make a suggestion to our development team." 2. movies - every C&C game has had movies (w/ hit chicks normally) but they thought they would just make some in game movies w/ no real life vids 3. netcode - well since they cant seem to code their network so it can be past the built in firewall's that atleast 10-20% of bellsouth customers use (even when making the system the DMZ & opening all the ports they specify) i would have to say that 'gamespy arcade' is an extremely LAZY way to do netcode basis ea really 'screw'd the dog on this one they were trying to get it out in time for the 'real war' that the US is/will have w/ iraq and didnt care to TEST IT and make sure they were living up to the C&C series HISTORY / LEGACY other than that - the 15min i have played of the game looks good - but when i cant 'adapt' to the keys that 'big brother' says i should use for the game, then its not something i want to pick up and play every 2 sec

Hmmm. The netcode and ports is as easy as using the 'netstat' command with no internet connections open. You can easily see the ports and configure your router for these ports. If anything, they require a little bit of computer and network experience which I guess you are lacking. Also, this is the best game by far of the series, the old ones were boring with virtually no graphic changes up and until now. I also have no problem with the key's they are fine. All a matter of preference, but I do agree that they shouldn't have blocked it out. You also have quick reference cards and a pretty good manual.

Its truly sad when a individual reviews a game and to all who read that review and the issues raised by the individual indicate a keyboard to monitor interface prblem. In my opinion this game keeps the feel and fun of the original c and c series. Hat is difficult to do for the creators of a game or genre but to have a nother company pick up on a series and be able to give the player the same fell and flavor ...well, WELL done! In my humble opinion this game is awesome.it is potent and pregnant witht he most inportant thing a game can have.....FUN FACTOR.I too cant let go of the single player aspect and when i tried the skirmish......whoo boy i was beat back to the stone age. BUT i had a blast.Gte the game buy the game play the game it simply rock!

C&C was always weak in AI, but this is the triumph. Units will simply do nothing until you move them or put them to guard mode, computer in scirmish easy mode will send every 2 minutes a group of 4-5 units to the same place, so you have to do nothing more for your defence than placing few more units to that area. In medium mode you are going to be destroyed in 5 minutes. The campains are short, battles are short, so I could not get anything from rpg feature of the game. However there are also good points in this game, one of them is music, very characteristic for each race. Graphics are fine, but nothing special these days. May be the strong point is multiplayer, but I didn't try it yet.

olufsen, Sends 4-5 men every 2 mins! BS! On easy mode on China 7 they keep coming huge. I don't think you played much beyond map 2 in single player IMHO. I find the AI is fine, I think the replayability is great and the Multiplayer is awesome except for video lag in big events.

The thing about C&C is they are good in the first time. They explode in the first time but it never lasts like StarCraft. I didn't say it is bad, I like the game though.

I think this game is rather poor, a mix of polygons, very poor interface, a real mess to select your troops, flakey camera behaviour, etc..etc... They only wanted to show that the could turn the original C&C into a 3D mess. Well, the have succeeded. Poor poor game.

fluke 1. i emailed their tech support about my network problems - they said to wait for the next patch if 1.3 didnt work (and i know what im doing) 2. and like erboz said, the controls sux (even w/ a manual and a quick refernce card) you take any RTS and talk away the ability to change configs, AND REMOVE THE KEYBOARD MOVEMENT KEYS, replacing them w/ a scroll list for your troops in no apparent order; then your just asking for problems

Really terrible game. Ai sucks, graphics is good only on P4 2.4 GHZ with geforce 3 or 4. Few missions and tons of problems and no movie intro. Shit game, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

It looks to me, writinge this kind of review, is like being paid well to do so. This game sux totally. Maybe the 3D engine is okay, but at current gaming industry, every good 3D game have a good 3D engine, and C&C:GS's 3D engine is not outstanding at all. Having played other newer RTS games like war3 & AOM, C&C:GS's interface is completely unacceptable. The inconvenience will just make people who know what a good control interface should be feeling sick. Good luck EA games, this game is not gonna sell.

hx, half the people on this review thing probably are playing with the warez version. Lokam Turner, your computer sucks obviously (1) since I haven't had 1 single problem. (2) I have no problem with the keys (3) If finished all campaigns and I play regularly on internet and head to head. NO PROBLEMS. The game rocks and Westwood did a freggin excellent job, and this review is right on the money. Now if I could put that review 'it's time to upgrade your video card' behind me, I'd be fine. That's the only thing I ever read here that was so full of BS, it's incredible. hx, you should go to confession for that ;)

this is'nt a fucking crack page it's a game review look at astalavista or some shit, as for this game i like a variety of games most rts , fps and rpgs, opinions will vary. if you love rts you won't be going wrong getting this game. Single player campaignes could have gone a bit longer, movies scenes are dodgy ingame cutscenes. skirmish is insane i still wonder where the bastard gets his $$ when i cut him off from supply and he has no blackmaket income ect.. The ai always knows where to drop his ultimate weapon (this was on normal). this game is freakin action packed when you have it on the highest level of difficulty and makes a great Skirmish, multiplayer game. Skirmish is all i play now since i know half the arsholes on the net cheat their dicks off. This game beats the crap outta Unreal 2 6/10 for single player 8/10 for skirmish 9/10 when you fuckers out their play fair

I don't really care whether you've being paid to write reviews hx, but I do feel bad for those who viewed your review, think C&C:GS is a flawless game and pay money to buy a game actually is flawful. This is really a bad review in my opinion. I use to be a hardcore C&C fan since dune2, and the handmade RA2 tin statue is still standing on my desktop. But this product has disappointed me. It's really the attitide thing, which EA currently does not have. EA has to do much better than this for me to buy anything else from them ever again. And to those who are wondering whether to buy this game, I do suggest you check on more reviews on the web that analyze this game fairly.

I didn't find no one serious bug in the game (unlike other EA games) and interface is also pretty acceptable for me. But I understand some people can be disapointed especially those with slower PCs.

It has nothing to do with how powerfull your PC is IMHO, todays games get reviewed toward the graphics, seems like releasing a 3D game nowadays reasures that the game gets a 70% at least, nomatter how BAD everything else is. I score it a fair 27%.

I don't like the game at all. The atmosphere is really bad. They don' t even have a music theme like "The Hellmarch". I also hate it because it's 3d. The textures also suck bigtime! When i looked at the first screenshots of the game i thought it would be nice. I thought the water would look nice but it also sucks. Why does it have to be 3d ??? I hope next time they will make it in 2d and I also hope it has the atmosphere like in the other c&c series.

fluke 1. westwood didnt make the game, ea pacific did after they canned westwood 2. i got my copy from eastore, unless they warez their own software (we dont pirate, ahrr) 3. the game play fine, its just their lack of bindable keys that is annoying, and there arent any keyboard keys for moving around the map (up,down,left,right) 4. i see you have 'no comment' on the video complaint - sup.

This game goes back to the classic feeling of the old school C&C, finally a fully balanced selection of units where n00bs which cry that the game sucks cant do tank rushes anymore, the game rocks and opens up a great array of tactics instead of resource hoarding and tank rushing.

I'm not a professional webber and I haven't got all day. Pros or cons of a game come from comparison with others of the same category, in this case, namely WC3 by blizzard and AOM by MS. Graphic engine of C&C:GS is definately more advanced than WC3's, but worse than AOM's. A player with an AVERAGE PC can't run this game SMOOTHLY. Even one with higher end PC still experience the same problem. I myself am using P41.8 with 512DDR plus a GF4 Ti4200 128MB(you can call it higher end, can't you?), and the frame rate still reduces greatly when the units in game exceed a certain number. You don't see this kind of thing in AOM's engine. Comes to the control interface, it's far worse than WC3 and AOM, although C&C:GS is 2 seasons newer than those two. Especially in the hotkey and unit selection area. And I don't need to repeat the widely complained network problem do I? You can say comparing to the excellent modern real time tactic gaming experience, those cons are nothing. But is it true to everybody, especially those who are new to C&C series? what if those who concern the cons I've mentioned above alot saw the review here and thought these cons don't exist, and go buy the game? If this is a review posted in a C&C dedicated web site, or even EA sites, then I'll have nothing to say, however it is not. I think this concludes my previous posts.

This game puts the word shit on a whole new level e.g. 1-day o' playin=21 mission in 3 campaigns. I wonder did EA ever stop to think they were makin' the CRAPPIEST 3d rts nowadays? Skirmish sucks even 50+ tanks, 20+ aircrafts etc.=new units means nothing to me. And where are all those good videos from good ol' school C&C series? If this 88% than we're goin' to play shitfrom EA Games every year... P.S. Oh, to add to al I've said before the EA support is the crappiest in all fuckin world. Even the Micrasoft is of no comparison to this CRAP.

I dont know about you guys! I've played Red alert 2 and other C&C RTS and I think this is the best so far. I even love this more than warcraft, coz theres no limit on the units. As long as you can pump the money, you can pump the wrecking crew!!!! Stunning audio, but they can work on the graphics. I had no problems whatsoever, maybe thats because I got a good system. 2.4 AMD, 512 pc2700, 128 Ti4200, 80 g HD. Unlike those who are complaining that the game sucks. Maybe you got a shitty system!!!! He! He! He!

This game happily runs on an AMD Athlon 1.4ghz + 512MB DDR memory + Geforce 2 Pro. It also runs fine on my 2700+ AMD + GeForce 4 TI + 1GB ddr...and so it should :) The system ratings are a little overated in my opinion.

I think the US+UK vs Iraqi war influenced my liking this game so much. I am not a fan of C&C, prefering Starcraft and Age of Whatever, but this particular version really took me. Any tips on finishing Level 7 of China? Those Scud showers are really wacking my arse and when I tried to take the war to their base.. I was swept away. Any tips, or links to them, would be much appreciated

I don't really understand why most of the people commenting here feel the need to swear and do atrocious spelling instead of forming a valid, useful argument. "Yer U n00bs suck ass, and ur all shit and ea r shit y tha fuck u playing this game...you shits" etc etc. Agreed, Generals isn't as fun as Red Alert - with its boats, chronosphere and tesla coils, but isn't it great when all your special weapons all come into play at the same time? eg Dropping a fat load of bombs on the nice big army the enemy has just built by their war factory, then, perhaps, shutting down their power or radar, then cutting a line through their base defences with the particle cannon, before storming in with Mr. Burton, some snipers and trigger happy choppers? It might not be revolutionary, but boy does it work! And those of you who are saying that it looks crap, perhaps you are the new generation of console kiddy gamers who need to stop wanking over heartless visuals, and instead concentrate on a fun, hectic game.

this game crashes very regular with any system using the KT133a chipset and also with any of the hercules video cards (such as the 3D Prophet 4000 and 4500 series 64MB cards). the game does still have other problems but maybe with enough patches it will work for most systems

Second your a loser cause you want to cheat. third your question is too vague which file exactly?.If you want a cheat go look for it if you don't find it then you COULD try and do it yourself get some skills learn assembly or C++ or some other language and investigate. you probabaly won't figure it out any time soon but its a start unless of course you got other interest then don't want a long campaign. anyway i have no clue what your talking about sorry.lol

ok after having the game for well over 4 months ive decided to say a lil something about it.1st its addictive,its been a while since i played a game that kept me coming back for more,But,The game is still yet buggy today,lets face it EA did not follow through on this game properly and released it to soon.The proof is in the pudding look at what patch were upto now (v1.06)and yet the game has already managed to rear more problems.the patch for the most part is fairly OK.But EA dont advertise what yer patch can do when it doesnt,were all still seeing DCers that cause a winning team to get a DC now.Now were looking at a exp soon,my god i would think fixing the game woul;d be priority over a exp but maybe im wrong,im not personally buying it till the game is sound.Like some said i dont forsee this game to be fixed till patch v5.06 is released.Lets not also forget that EA was responsible for canning one of the most ultimate fighting games that never made it to console or will ever for that matter "ThrillKill".I paid 50 bux for CNCG and for the most part its a good game but buggy as hell.Lets not forget either we`re the "boss" thats right we`re the boss we buy the games and we pay theyre salary so lets all get on th horn and tell EA to either get this game lined out ASAP or possibly face a million gamers calling the BBB and filing complaints.Beleive me it works

Well. What is left to say. Game is great. Exept for a rather slow LAN performance on XP2000+ KT400 256 MB DDRAM+GF4MX440. Is this normal ? I'd expect far better games to work nicely with this kind of computer (it's cheap, but WArcraft 3 for example run Great even with Intel P3-Celeron 733 Mhz on HOME LAN) I can't help but conclude that their network code is very bad. Perhaps they lack "dedicated server" support. but then, HL - CS Work nice for up to 20 players without using dedicated servers. What is so demanding in this game that it can't run decently on a XP2000+ class computer (On lan, singleplayer works perfectly even on slower computers) Is my lan so bad ? Are there some tricks ? Thx.

Someone recently asked about how to change the serial number of C&C Generals. Thier question was then answered in an assumptive & disreguarding fashion. Well I've got the same question & I'm not going to allow it to be misinterpreted as an excuse to hack or perform any form of piracy to the game. I cannot play LAN games with the same copy of this game. What's up with that EA, or whomever may know that will actually have a useful responce? It say this serial number is already in use. You don't seriously expect for customers to go & buy multiple copies of any given game so that they can share it & enjoy LAN games within thier OWN HOUSHOLD, Do you? What gives? & if tricking the game into think you've bought another copy because you "hack" the registry code isn't the way, then how? Just tell me that one game is plenty for the abliity to utilize ALL of it's features within any household with a network & I don't have to purchase another copy. Then, I'll agree that altering the game is something to be shunned. Thankyou in advance for your time & consideration of my question.

its a decent game, very addicting even if the graphics could have been better, but i do admit it has some funny resource problems, and glitches... i got up to mission 7 and it crashed, installed the path.. sure it looked a lil better but still crashes... i am pretty sure the rest of the game is as good as what ive played so far.. but it could have been alot better .. id give it a 9/10 for likability.. but im sure in time thatll dwindel ... give a 4 overall-ish..

ok this game is decent and everything but i hat the keyboard controlls how the f... do i change em i hate it how you have to hold shift to scroll using the keyboard
