The guys at
GamersPulse have posted
a hand-on preview of Colin McRae Rally 3 (demo),
Codemaster's soon-to-be-released rally racing simulation game. Here is an
excerpt:
Colin McRae Rally 3 may need a little more work in terms of its gameplay, but its visuals are outstanding. Vehicle models are absolutely amazing, clearly rendered with an obsessive amount of polygons. Nicely enough, the models are destructible, even if they have been licensed, but only slightly so. During races, damaging the cars requires quite a bit of force as the models only received minimal damage when struck against a tree or wall. The distinction between different courses set in different parts of the world is made clear by unique weather effects such as rain, dust, and snow. Driving through snow or dust will actually affect the appearance of your car by making it dirty. With the vehicle models so nice, the environments don’t look as solid. There were some sight distance issues on certain courses that will most likely be fixed before the game’s release. Even so, the game looks great as it stands.
