Gamecloud: What can you tell us at this point about the more unique aspects of Caesar IV? Chris Beatrice: There is really nothing out there like Caesar IV, and that has been true of the series for most of its history. Most strategy games are about destruction, not construction, and do not feature "units" that model real people. In most strategy games the AI is designed to make strategic and tactical combat decisions, not to simulate real people struggling to do a job, feed and entertain themselves. Conversely, most sims do not offer any strategic challenge, or allow multiple paths to victory (or even the concept of victory to begin with). Caesar IV combines elements of city planning, financial management, and governing people, in a historical setting. You also have goals to achieve (per Caesar). And this all happens in a richly detailed city simulation. It's immersive non-violent escapist entertainment you experience at your own pace.
