DOTA trademark debate - If you have been living in a cave then do note that original Dota was a Warcraft 3 mod, and that developer is now working at Valve to make DOTA 2. This mod from Blizzard will still keep the name DOTA, as right now both Valve and Blizzard have not trademarked the name so both are using it. Blizzard DOTA will be free-2-play - This mod will be kind of free 2 play even if you don't purchase StarCraft 2. You may remember that StarCraft 2 starter pack which features limited features of SC2 but it is free to download and play. Using that starter pack you will be able to play Blizzard DOTA too. Blizzard is looking into how some limitations will be applied or any microtransaction system to be introduced in this mod but nothign has been finalized so far. Blizzard DOTA gameplay focus - Although teh basic objectives and gameplay of DOTA remain same i.e. Each player uses different heroes to attack on enemy defense towers and defends their own tower and move across maps with different routes to destroy enemy stronghold. But these lead to hectic matches with strong defense towers and even little miscoordination between team mates becomes unforgivable leading to tense matches. Blizzard will be simplyfying the item system, making towers easier to demolish and simpler abilities so as to make game more accessible and they don't take 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Which is a really good thing as these games are pretty daunting to me right now.
