LoadedInc: Have the development team added any new gameplay features to the game since E3? Mike Allenson: Most of them I've already mentioned, but I just briefly mentioned the random map generator, which really deserves more space. Blitzkrieg has three campaigns with seven to eight main historical battles in each. In principle you could just play those 24 missions and complete the single player mode of the game. Now this in and of itself is great, but what RTS doesn't have this kind of system? We wanted to go further and make the single player mode more interesting, so we added in a dynamic difficulty system, much like what you get in an RPG. If you go straight into the main historic missions your troops will have minimal experience and just average armor and vehicles, which makes your success on the battlefield that much harder. On the other hand you have the option of playing an unlimited number of random missions that will provide your troops with experience and much better access to the motor pool for better weaponry. Now when you go into the main battle you'll be able to saunter in like John Wayne because you'll have battle hardened veterans fighting with the best machinery available. This is all made possible by the random map generator, which takes the parameters from the main mission such as the season, structure types and other general information to make sure that you're not fighting in knee-deep snow when you're supposed to be expanding the bridgehead at Normandy. Each of these maps comes complete with objectives and plenty of enemy opposition to keep you occupied. You can play 24 missions or 2400 - the maps never stop!
