Vircom announces that the company has halted the development of its upcoming MMORPG, Black Moon Chronicles – Winds of War, and that its interactive division has closed. Vircom will refocus on its core business, the development of industry-acclaimed VOP suite of Internet server software. The earlier announcement that Vircom’s mother company, Cryonetworks, had filed for bankruptcy in July had a negative effect on the interactive division’s business position and hindered the negotiations with the division’s eventual strategic partners. “The decision comes after several months of discussions with publishing partners”, states Richard Lachance, Executive Vice-President of Vircom. “Unfortunately, we were not able to reach a satisfactory agreement and had to reassess the interactive division’s future within an independent Vircom”, says Mr. Lachance. Although Vircom’s executive management is still actively looking for publishing partners, no further development of Black Moon Chronicles – Winds of War is scheduled for now and the interactive division will remain closed.
