I noticed over at BF42.com (thanks jd) that the developer at DICE posted a statement regarding the lag&crash bug in the MP Demo:

First of all, get your facts straight before making any accusations about bad netcode etc, here's the real deal:

there is NOTHING wrong with the netcode, its actually quite excellent. BUT, in the demo there is a SERVER - bug, that causes all those "warning connection problem" and making people's ping go up to 1023. Also there is a problem in the client that can cause the server to go fubar.

This has all been adressed in the final version.

Also, the crash-bug, ie; you get a black screen and it crashes back to the desktop with an error log saying "invalid videomode specified"

Solution: If you have ANY sort of Nvidia REFRESHRATE-FIX,/Refresh Force etc remove it, or move back to 60hz for the resolution that you play with, there's a bug with those sort of programs that causes the crash. This has of course also been adressed. //Tony

They also have a solution for you, if you're getting way too high pings after joining a game. The problem is that the ingame browser still pings all available BF42 servers in the background. Solution: After joining a game, hit ESC and click the Options tab, so that you leave the ingame browser. Then hit ESC again and you're back in the game with a much better ping.

ONLY 60hz? How the hell must I play this on my 19" which I purpousfully got for the high refreshrates? ONLY 60hz? This is BULLSHIT!

LOL u tell em m8 EA should have at least released a bug patch !!! Have any of u played follow the leader with planes ? me and a few mates online followed someones plane do all sorts of acrobatics and low flying under both bridges. its funny to see the crap flyers sink in the abyss !!!

First of all, that statement is a fake, which you can read for yourselves in the comments to the original article on bf42.com. Concerning the 60hz stuff you can use Powerstrip or similar app to increase the refreshrate when running bf1942.
