BattlEye Bans a Boatload in PUBG - briefly
(hx) 08:09 AM CET - Dec,29 2017 - Post a comment / read (4)
The 'anti-cheat gold standard' BattlEye is reporting that PUBG bans now exceed over 1.5 million. That's over 800,000 accounts banned since November 14. The latest figures were provided via the BattlEye (@TheBattlEye) Twitter account:
Update on the number of PUBG bans: 1,500,000.

After releasing new security updates last week, we banned almost 100,000 PUBG accounts this past weekend totaling over 700,000. That being said, fighting cheaters will always remain WIP and never be solved completely, especially in the most popular Battle Royale game.

What is driving so many players to cheat? In a game like PUBG, where the satisfaction comes from getting better and growing as a player, cheating seems like it would be boring and ruin the magic.

That's easy. Time.
They just want to get through the game to get it under their belt and move onto the next.
Why play it in the first place then?
There could be a number of reasons:
- They want a decent time killer, but not interested in the game itself. (shooters, typically)
- They are curious about the story, but do not care or want to bother with the actual gameplay. (rpgs, stealth and the like)
- They had starting playing the game normally but lost interest along the way, yet they don't want to leave it unfinished.
- They want to check off all the achievements.
- They want to brag "I have played that, too, of course","Oh, I had better or more of something", etc.
Makes total sense.
Then, there's that other cheater that we all despise: the ones that enjoy causing harm to others in multiplayer games for their own gain or amusement.

"What is driving so many players to cheat?"

:) Funny you should ask, given that you push cheat commercials on site and all.... :)

I've never supported cheating in online games.

Well, I get commercials in a form of article on main page, in between actual articles, that promote cheat engines, mainly "cheat happens".

I never said anything about your personal opinion about it. :)

edit: maybe I should clarify:

I am not attacking you, I am just making an observation.
