has posted preview of
Star Wars: Battlefront II, the upcoming sequel to the multiplayer action game set
in the Star Wars universe. The game is scheduled for release on PC, PS2 and XBox
in Fall 2005. Here's a slice:
As you'd expect, Battlefront II will also feature a healthy dose of Episode III content as well. For instance, there's a new Kashyyyk map on offer that's consistent with the battle scenes in the film, from the wookiee tree houses and sandy beaches to the thundering droid-army tanks. Interestingly, the first Battlefront had a Kashyyyk level, but that was before the films had canonized its look and feel, so now we get the revisionist version of the wookiee homeworld. Some of the hero characters will also be influenced by Episode III. General Grievous will be the bad-guy equivalent of Yoda, and he'll even wield the deadly four-lightsaber combo like he does against Obi-Wan in the movie. You'll even get to play as a saber-wielding Emperor in the Death Star level, though we were told that his offense would naturally rely most heavily on Force lightning.

has posted a preview of
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, the upcoming free-addon to the acclaimed
first-person shooter sequel by Valve Software. Here's a slice:
If you've played through Half-Life 2, the gameplay in Lost Coast isn't going to set the world on fire. You fight your way up a sheer cliff face, trading fire with those pesky Combine soldiers every step of the way. You'll occasionally have to deal with some of the more vicious sorts of headcrabs, and at the end you'll have to bring down a Combine gunship with Gordon Freeman's trusty rocket launcher. You'll have to solve a couple of light physics puzzles as well, which we won't detail for the sake of preserving at least a little of the surprise. You'll even get to talk to an old man at the beginning of the level, who provides you with the impetus to head up into the hills and engage the Combine in the first place.

has posted a preview of F.E.A.R., the upcoming
next first person shooter from Monolith and VUGames. Here's a slice:
As cool as the combat was in the F.E.A.R. demo, we were equally impressed with the creepy atmosphere and disturbing cinematic elements. The entire demo was dark--we're talking Doom 3 dark, where you can barely see anything in some rooms (though at least your head-mounted flashlight can be left on while you're shooting). And toward the end, weird things started to happen, like the ghostly little girl that appeared right in our face when we were descending a ladder. Later on in our investigation, we were inexplicably teleported into a weird hallway, and when we walked down it, we found a brutalized, dying man in a chair, and caught a ghostly glimpse of what appeared to be his murderer before he died right in front of us.
