Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Modes Detailed - briefly

A new Battleblog entry was posted on the Battlefield Blog today talking about multiplayer modes. All 9 maps that Battlefield 3 ships with will be playable on 5 game modes - squad deathmatch, team deathmatch, rush, squad rush and conquest. - Team Deathmatch: the classic mode from Battlefield 1942 is back and will support up to 24 players on all 9 maps. No vehicles will be available in TDM.

- Squad Deathmatch: is back from Bad Company 2 and pits 4 squads of 4 players against each other, with one Infantry Fighting Vehicle available per map.

- Rush: the Bad Company mode will be available in Battlefield 3 and will support up to 24 players on console and 32 players on PC. This time, M-COM stations cannot be taken out by explosives and have to be armed.

- Squad Rush: is back from Bad Company and will pit two squads of 4 players against each other, one squad defending the M-COM, the other attacking.

- Conquest: the classic Battlefield game mode is back and will be available in three flavors: 24 player maps on consoles, and 32 and 64 player maps on PC.

In addition to the 5 game modes, Battlefield 3 will include an infantry only mode where only transport vehicles are available, and a hardcore mode, which is similar to the hardcore mode in Bad Company 2.

Wow, that's actually pretty disappointing. The only 64 player mode is conquest? I guess I should feel lucky since that's my favorite mode anyways, but damn... 64 player deatchmatch or rush would've been fun to try as well. They were so willing to let us think 64 players on PC meant every mode. I don't know if I can even preorder this now. When in arma 3 supposed to come out?

Dude, Arma and BF is totally different type of games... the one is aiming at "simulator gameplay", which sounds pathetically funny, the other is Arcade experience... so, no comparison here dude.

But, if you come to think about it there is no point in having 64 players in the other modes... they are just other type of gameplay :)

And, i personally believe that it will be possible ot set the number to 64 on the other modes - it will be admin controlet setting. I hope so :)

Yeah, didn't mean to leave the impression I thought they were the same, I'm just starting to think I might leave BF3 for the PS3 to play with real life friends and get arma for the PC, something like that. I like both styles of play.
