3000AD has released the promised playable demo of their upcoming space combat sim Battlecruiser Millenium. This demo is the first of six episodes which will be released periodically, right up to the final Gold release of BATTLECRUISER MILLENNIUM. Due to the sheer size and scope of the game, this was the only way to present the demo, without crippling the significant features, while keeping the distribution size down. There are two versions of this demo. The LOW CONTENT version and the HIGH CONTENT version. Other than an added number of sound and voice effects, higher resolution space environment textures etc, both version use the SAME code kernel and have the SAME scenarios. If if are on a slow download pipe, you should download the LC version. The demo is based on BCM Beta code and does have issues related to operation etc. You may experience the odd crash or two as well. There IS also a very good chance that some unexpected behavior (e.g. crashes) will occur due to files and features that are disabled in order to keep the demo file sizes small. Though steps have been taken to prevent this, there may be certain conditions under which a missing file may cause a crash. Download this update(2MB) to enable station docking in the demo.
