Atari's New Games Console Runs Linux - console

- Post a comment / read (1) Atari has revealed additional details about its new Ataribox console, including pricing information, a release window, and its upcoming crowdfunding campaign. The Ataribox will launch in "late Spring 2018" for $250-$300 USD, Atari revealed in its latest newsletter. The company says it will be a Linux-based console that's a "full PC experience for the TV, bringing you streaming, applications, social, browsing, music, and more." Atari's first console in 20 years will be powered by a custom AMD processor with Radeon graphics. Ataribox will support pre-loaded retro Atari games, as well as "current titles from a range of studios." The newsletter also confirmed a previous report that the console will be crowdfunded; an Indiegogo campaign will kick off in the coming months.
