Desslock's RPG News has written an in-depth preview (based on a beta build) of Troika and Sierra's forthcoming RPG, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.
"In Arcanum, an industrial revolution has broken the peace and superiority of "magick", as it is spelled in the game. This has created a rather interesting situation, as this new technology doesn't really mix well with magick. The game's overall theme emphasises a clash between classic fantasy and our own reality in Europe and the Americas in the late 1800's. The effects of this clash will have an impact on the characters skills and the attitudes of characters in the game towards him / her. Spells will not be as powerful on a character firmly entrenched in his techno-scientifical beliefs, and technological devices have a tendency to malfunction in the presence of strong magicks.
